I've tried birth control pills and no relief. I had excision surgery and everything only got worse. The ONLY thing that has improved my endo is changing my diet. Cut out wheat/gluten, sugar, dairy, red meat and you'll feel better. Add superfoods like spirulina, goji berries, raw cacao, and you'll feel better. If you research Lupron you'll find that in independent studies something like 20% of all woman who get even one shot of it have debilitating side effects that never go away. Endometriosis is an estrogen dominant condition. Learn about what you can do to limit your exposure to xenoestrogens and estrogen. Avoid soy, for one, and plastic containers for another. Lupron and surgery are only temporary treatments. Your body is telling you that it needs to be worshiped as the amazing temple it is. Be aware of the ingredients in all foods you eat. I highly recommend a raw diet, though it is a slow and gradual process to be 100% raw. Just start incorporating organic, natural foods and lay off the junk/sugar. You will see improvement!

Endometrioma is different from endometriosis. Endometrioma is a tumor of the endometrium. It does not necessarily have to be cancerous. Endometriosis is abnormal growths on the endometrium. Now you still can have endometriosis, while having an endometrioma.

I have had both, I still suffer from endomeriosis, and was previously on Depo-Provera, however I am in childbearing years and would like to think of that as a possibility, so I have discontinued the use of depo. I sure am paying for it though!

There are GnHR therapies, birth control, surgery, and analgesics. It really depends on what you would like to do and your future plans.

Are you the type that has a lot of pain, or never even really knew what was going on?

Hi there.  I had been diagnosed with a 6 cm cyst of unknown etiology and uterine fibroids over a year ago and my PCP thought that it was cancer since the CA - 125 (a cancer marker) came elevated.  For a year, I searched on line and talked to doctors since I wasn't convince that I had cancer and that I needed a big laparotomy, so finally I found a GYN who was also worried about my fertility, so I went and had the surgery on December 27th.

The surgery took around 3 hours since the GYN had no idea what was going on inside and what he found was an endometrioma.  He was able to remove the endometrioma without removing the ovary or anything else and did washings to clean up all he could.  After that, he recommended me a 3-month Lupron shot that helps stop the endometriosis and increases your fertility.

I had no real symptoms related to endometriosis, except that for years I had had IBS and constant urinary infections.  A little more that a month has passed and I feel pretty well.  The swelling from the operation and my bowels are much better.  The only symptoms that I have from the Lupron shot is a little headache around 6 pm and I have to have a 6 or 7 hour sleep so I don't feel tired, but I am doing fine.

I got checked by the GYN on January 27th and he says I am doing really well and I feel fine.  I have beep up and around pretty much since the surgery and that has helped me recuperate faster.

Hope this info helps and I hope you continue feeling well.

Best wishes,

Neta

Hi Babyblue2449,
I've talked to you before on the ovarian cyst forum.  I'm on here searching for answers too.  I had my surgery on the 27th of Jan and found out my dr removed a large softball sized endometrioma.  I did not speak with him myself, so have not had a chance to ask any questions, but go to see him on Feb. 26th.  I will go armed with lots of questions.  I did not know I had endometriosis...or do I or was that isolated....?  I dont' know.  I will look around on here as well and see if we can find any mroe info...I saw on your previous post on the cyst forum that you're feeling really good since your surgery.  Good for you.  I had a few good and bad days, but today is honestly the first day I felt kind of like myself.  Good luck and I hope you continue to feel well.
