Abnormally High EBV levels
Two weeks ago I was tested for several things due to the following symptoms: fatigue and generalized lymphadenopathy that is painful and lasting for 7 weeks (at this point). The only thing I tested positive for was EBV. However, my levels were extremely high.
EBV early antigen IGG: 124 (positive is greater than 10.9)
EBV AB VCA IGG: >600 (pos is greater than 21.9)
EBV Nuclear antigen AB IGG: >600 (pos is greater than 21.9)
Basically, I have had a reactivation of this virus.
I am extremely scared and concerned because I've read that a compromised immune system causes a reactivation of EBV. In late April, I had an oral sexual encounter with a male of unknown status and I have been very anxious about HIV due to these persistent symptoms. It has been 20.5 weeks since the exposure and I have tested up to 18 weeks with 3rd generation antibody test which was negative and an oral swab Oraquick test yesterday which was negative, too. My question is what else can cause such high levels of reactivation and have any of you had EBV and had lymph nodes swell all over and be tender for so long? Any help would be appreciated.

My risk was naked frottage with SW in Thailand. No penetration of any sort. This incidence is of Nov 2012.I was in a monogamous relationship for past 26 years. I was lured by tuktuk in bangkok to erotic massage parlour and commited this blunder. After five days I had fever for two days and after four months I had severe rashes on back shoulders upper arms and chest. Later diagnosed as Malassazia Pityrosporum folliculitis. Looking at the rashes I googled and was horrified to note that it is related to HIV. I immediately got myself tested and EIA was negative. I visited one Dermatologist and he prescribed fluconazole 200x2 for 15 days. It gave some relief but the infection was not cured completely. The yeast infection spread to all parts of my body from scalp to toe and I could see grey patches underneath the skin. My whole body skin was burning like hell. In September 2013 I visited another dermatologist and he prescribed me Itraconazole 100 mg for fourteen days and wrote in his reports as I am suffering from "AIDS". I had asked him if any blood test was required and he replied me it would be waste of money. I didn’t notice what he had written in his report till a few months back. He on repeated visits didn’t prescribe any oral or local anti fungal. I stopped visiting him in June 2014 and used Ketaconazole shampoo on and off, which gave me some relief. Also used hundreds of tubes of ketoconazole and clotrimazole on sole and palm and sometimes on genitals. I then visited another dermatologist in September 2014. She prescribed me itraconazole 100mgx2 for 10 days and again 100mgx2 for 8 days in October 2014. After finishing the second course I started feeling nauseating and my tongue became white and started having mild night sweating. So she didn’t prescribe me any more itraconazole. Instead she prescribed me Selenium Sulphide shampoo. I have at present completed using this shampoo everyday on my scalp and body for last one month. The macropapular pustules have subsided but the yeast infection is still there. And i have episodes of intense burning sensation on the whole body. Other symptoms that exists are as follows:
Grew warts on underarms and one on anus after five months.
Started burning sensation on sole and palm in april 2013. Still exists.
Noticed some tiny finger like projections on edge of the glans of penis in May 2013. which I googled and came to know is called erythromatoses. Have subsided but pearly papules still exist.
Soft stool since march 2013. still persists.
Swollen lymph nodes in neck since march 2013. There are three, one on each side under the jaw and one on the right side under the chin. Still exists. One under the chin has started reducing in size since Feb 2015.
One very small lymph node about 3mm in right elbow. Still exists.
Started having pain in right eyes since ocrober 2014 and rushed to test CMV and found CMV igg was very high.No redness, no vasculitis.
Started having twitching of muscles on various parts of the body since 5/1/2015. Had continuous fluttering on the left side of abdomen between scrotum and left leg for five days. Twitching of muscle stopped on 17/2/15. Twitching and fluttering in the abdomen again started from 2/3/15. Stopped on 11/3/15.
Sores on the tongue in July 2013.
Tongue became white and hairy on 10/10/14. Still persists.
I had physical contact with my wife only once after 10 days of this episode till now and she had severe diahorrea after 10 days. I didn't make any more unprotected contact after that. Dihorrhea was controlled after taking ornidazole 200x 2 for 7 days. After that she also experienced following symptoms:
Lip Sore in April 2013. And repeat two three times afterwards.
Bleeding from nose last week march 2013, July 2013, and on 3/12/2014, 20/2/15, 2/3/15.
Rashes on left lower arm in last week of march 2013 then again rashes on left thigh in may 2013 first week.
Sore throat in June 2013.
Ulcer under the tongue in July 2013.
Headache, malaise, muscle pain
Again Herpes break out on the cheek in May 2014.
Low grade fever off and on.
Vaginal candidiasis in January 2015.
Had periods three times in 35 days in december/January 2015.
Testings:
1. Rapid HIV, HCV, HBSAG on 5/4/2013 (18 weeks). Negative
2. Rapid HIV on 22/4/2013 ( 20 weeks). Negative.
3. VDRL ON 5/5/2013 (22 Weeks) Negative
4. WB on 17/5/2013 (24 weeks). Negative
4. EIA HIV1/2 and TPHA on 16/6/2013 (28 weeks) Negative
5. RAPID HIV1/2 and VDRL on 11/7/2013 (32Weeks). negative
6. CMIA HIV1/2 ON 10/12/2013 (55 Weeks) Negative
7. EIA HIV 1/2 ON 28/3/2014 ( 69 Weeks) negative
8. EIA/P24, TPHA, RNA PCR (COBAS AMPLIPREP/TAQMAN) on 28/4/14 (73 weeks)NEGATIVE NOT DETECTED
9. ELISA HIV 1/0/2 ON SIEMENS ADVIA CENTAUR on 12/10/2014 (100 weeks) negative
10. CMV igg > 250 ON 12/10/2014
11. CD4 count 1346 on 18/10/2014.
12. CBC not done.
13. ORAQUICK for my wife at 52 weeks negative.
My question is:
1. Am I infected.
2. What other tests are required to confirm +/-.
3. If infected what should be the first line of treatment.
4. Can I start HAART without confirmed diagnosis.
5. Will Candida infection be under control after HAART treatment. In how many days can I see improvement.
6. If not infected what other condition can cause such persistent candida infection and cluster of other symptoms. I am not diabetic. I am not on any other medication. I live in a hot country but remain inside under air conditioning and do not sweat. Personal hygiene is good.
On other forums they just say that you didn't have an exposure and your test prove that you are not infected. No one has ever been infected this way in the history of HIV. But they do not look at the myriad of symptoms. I am from a poor country and the doctors here are unable to give me any further treatment and my suffering is beyond my endurance. I am taking loratadine 10 mg off and on to relieve burning sensation. Some times I am taking acceclofenac 100 mg and gives some relief for 24 hours. At present I am only on selenium sulphide shampoo.

Use live blood analysis- darkfield microscopy ( google it on you tube) should help you identify the pathogen .

Hey, I went in yesterday for my 6 month HIV test and had a PCR RNA test. Waiting for the results now. I have an appointment with an ID specialist on the tenth of this month.
