Had successful cataract surgery in both eyes. Have noticed since 2nd surgery that sclera of my eyes has darkened. When I look closely at it, there are small red blood vessels visible that weren't there before. My sclera have always been as white as a piece of paper but now they look muddy. The medication I put in my eyes after surgery didn't seem to have negative side effects at the time I was using it, but could that have permanently affected my sclera? I have regular blood work done as follow up for cancer treatment 2 X per year so I'm pretty sure anything serious with my liver or other organs would be showing up in those tests. My ophthalmologist denies anything is wrong, but after such a change so quickly I feel something has to have caused it.
