Good luck and let us know how things turn out. You have a lot going for you and hopefully this will just be an atypical migraine.

I am a 50 year old, white female, non-smoker, non-drinker, I weigh 170 and am 5'7" tall. We ride bikes, swim, trikke, canoe and walk for exercise. In the last year I've lost 40lbs doing weight watchers. I've never been told that I have high cholesterol. My dad died from prostate cancer, my mom from COPD. I go next Wednesday for the visual field test at 3:00pm. Thanks for all your help.
That term is for one eyed temporary blindness and it can be due to serious disease of the heart, brain and blood vessels. you are probably going to have a visual field or peripheral vision test. I think it important to follow through with the testing.
If you are young healthy don't smoke, are not obese don't have high cholesterol or a family history of heart or brain disease it is much less likely to turn out serious.

Thanks for your quick reply. I went to an Ophthalmologist today. He said that he will do some type of vision mapping and then he was sending me to a Neurologist. He wrote down that he suspects that I have "Amaurosis fugax." I've done some research but am pretty confused. I've already had a head CT that came back normal. What else can I expect to happen? How worried should I be? Is there anything else you can tell me. Maybe I am overreacting I sure hope so but I am a little scared.
The problems could be related but sudden onset of blurred vision is an eye emergency. You should move heaven and earth to get in to see an ophthalmologist tomorrow. Find one at www.aao.org Do not be put off. Ask to be seen just to be sure its not an emergency. You may need to return at a later date for a regular exam.
