Hello Brenda990.  I have had this very same problem.  Occasionally my left eye dilated and some dizziness.  In some cases I had briefly blacked out.  I am otherwise very healthy.  My bloodwork and tests have always come back normal.  About a year ago when giving blood I discovered that tea affects my iron levels.  If I drink tea, I experience these symptoms the very next day and they do away after I eat.  I also have recently discovered that Splenda will also have a similar affect on me the following day.  I am not sure why it affects me this way since I have not found anybody else with similar experiences... but I am sure glad that I finally have a clue of what was causing my problems!  I really hope this helps!!

Be sure you check out Horner's syndrome which is a smaller pupil on the same side as the pathology. Don't assume the dilated pupil is the abnormal one. Also check out Adie's pupil which is a pupil which is unresponsive to normal stimuli. It will sometimes be larger and sometimes small but it does not react quickly like a normal pupil.

An Eye Md should be able to identify an Adie's pupil and a Horner's but it may take a neurologist to track down the cause of a Horner's.
