If its the eyelid and not the eye the most common thing would be an early eyelid infection usually a stye.
You can use warm moise compresses for 5-10 minutes every couple ofhours waking hours.
You can get Occusoft eyelid cleaning foam or SteriLid eyelid cleaning foam and use it to clean the lids while showering use daily. Over the counter no RX required.
You can go to www.aao.org and find an Eye MD near you. Normally time is reserved for "work in" emergencies. Our group will always see any potential emergency same day. Call around today or very early tomorrow
If you have a family MD they might presecribe something like erythormycine eye ointment or polytrim 4 times/day both available as generic and inexpensive.

for the last 2 days my eye is swelling (top lid). it is very painful. the eyeball is very red. very little discharge. I haven't got anything in my eye so I can't figure out what to do. My pharmacist told me to get some allergy drops but they aren't helping. Eye doesn't itch but it makes me very ill from the pain. Can't see th doctor untill sometime in the latter part of the week. thank you for any help

i have the same problems as that person except mine started after degreaser got in my eye, and is caused by light. so what is the cause and what should i do? and ive already seen an eye specialist and she doesnt know whats wrong, and states that all my injuries have healed.
There are so many causes that it would just be speculation to name them all off. SEVERE pain requires a thorough medical evaluation. See an Eye MD find one near you at www.aao.org and get in soon.
