New to the forum

Hey ladies, I am new to the forum.  I am an embryologist, and often come across people who don't really understand the embryo side of IVF, so I joined to help in whatever way I can...and of course pray for all you ladies hoping for a BFP!

Really I know a lot about hormones but nothing about DHEA unfortunately.  I would look online or ask your RE, thats what they are there for!  GOOD LUCK!!!

Oh my goodness!  How very terribly frustrated you must be!  It sounds like you have been through a TON of stuff, and it just doesn't make any sense, I can see where you are feeling torn to pieces!

I think there is definitely something going on with your eggs because that is not a very normal response.  Really early blasts on day 5 isn't a terrible thing, we sometimes get nervous if they haven't blastulated at all by day 5 but even then if they are beautiful, we will usually still transfer them.

PGD is definitely an option but like you said it is so expensive.  We do PGD on day 3 and then transfer on day 5 and we will usually call the patient and say "Ok, we only have 3, do you still want to do PGD?" So that they aren't out 6 grand on three embryos.  Because even insurance in IL doesn't pay for PGD.

And please don't ever WORRY about asking a lot of questions -- I absolutely LOVE what I do and am so happy to share whatever I can.  I see where it is hard to give up on your own eggs, so its a choice you have to make of how much you are going to let yourself go through before you go to donor egg, or adoption.

If there is anything else I can do to help you, please please please let me know!  I will be thinking of you and all the other wanna be and really should be mommies!! Take Care!

We don't usually recommend a time for not doing physical exercise because there is no data to suggest what is good or bad.  We always say to do what you feel comfortable with because you don't want to ever blame yourself if you lose.  GOOD LUCK!

Thanks so much for your kind email!! It really meant a lot to me!  That is a good number of eggs you are working with :c)  I would not be too worried about egg quality, I would wait and see how the cycle goes before you get worked into a tizzy.

And the good thing about ICSI is that we don't need a lot of sperm, just a few motile guys ;c)  We do tend to see a lower fertilization rate with TESA sperm because we don't necessarily have enough motile to inject all the eggs and when you inject non-motile there is no guarantee that the sperm is alive and dead sperm will not fertilize.

Try and be optimistic, it seems like you have a lot of positive stuff going for you!  GL!!!

CONGRATS on having 2 beautiful embryos for transfer.  DO NOT get all in a tizzy.  First of all -- we have patients with half of their eggs are **** and they end up with BEAUTIFUL embryos!!!  That is mostly because each egg is more or less independent of the others because they are each coming from a different follicle so don't get down on the embryos -- dont hate on them!!

Your breakdown looked good tho because we usually see about 50% make it from d3 to day 5 so that is ALL good!  Keep me posted!!!

Hi!  I know that you are an embryologist, but do you have any knowledge about hormonal levels and what are some ideals?  I had my DHEA tested and it came in at 95 - I was wondering if that is an ideal number or low or high???

Thanks for being so supportive to everyone on this site! You are a valuable resource!!!
