Trying to Conceive

I am trying to conceive and my bloodwork results show TSH is 5.99. Six weeks ago it was 20. So it went down but not enough to be safe range to try to conceive as I've been told. Is it safe to take Levothyorxine now or should I just wait to see if will go down to safe range on my next appointment which is in October. I am 42 years old and my endocrynologist doesn't feel I should wait and take it now. She tells me this will help me conceive better. Is that true?

Hi thanks! My endocrynologist was kind enough to let me see her to discuss this further. From what she told me I need to take this med if I want to be pregnant. So I started taking this last Friday...taking 25mg levothyroxine. Hope this does work.

Hi there

I believe so - I was on it in June during my IVF and I did get a BFP but sadly we had a very early m/c, however we recently found out my TSH level was still at 2.83 so this may have been a factor in our m/c.

In my opinion, I would definitely take it!!  I have had to up my dose now and am on 75mg (was only on 25mg during the treatment), and I'm dure more bloods in a fortnight just before I start IVF #3, but we won't be allowed to continue unless my TSH is below 2.

Wishing you the very best of luck :o)
