Pepto Bismol

Posted under IBS also so you can read there.

Doctor now prescribed Pepto Bismol 4 times a day and Pepcid.  Stanford nurse said to try enteric peppermint oil for nausea and bloating and a probiotic.  Still not feeling well and nauseated when I get up every morning starting between 4:00 - 5:00 am.

Anyone ekes ever taken Pepto daily for this long?

I have been taking Align probiotic for  over 2 weeks per instructions from the nurse at Stanford since I was on Xifaxan for 2 weeks.  Actually, Pepto is the only thing that helps settle my stomach some.  Woke up again about 5:00 am sweating then getting nausea, tried taking Pepcid this time, my Xanax and then Pepto and a few crackers.  Settled down some but still bloated.  Don't seem to even be able to eat bland food now, have lost about 8 lbs.  also still hacking up mucus and bad globus.  Per the FODMAP diet,I cannot eat most of those.
I just know this is now chronic, all day every day.
Thanks

Hi, like I mentioned, the nausea could be a side effect of pepto bismol. Probiotics contain good bacteria and help with digestion. And Prebiotics are nondigestible carbohydrates that act as food for probiotics. Probiotics are found in foods such as yogurt, while prebiotics are found in whole grains, bananas, onions, garlic, honey and artichokes. A combination of two in a healthy diet is beneficial. Try this. Regards.
