MALS

Hi. ~

I have been ill for quite some time. As of 5/11/2011 I have a diagnosis of MALS. I encourage others not to give up. I have been through alot, alot of Dx., alot of turned backs, alot of tests (all of them) and now, I know what I have. I am not crazy afterall, which I knew I never was to begin with. I have Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome or Celiac Artery compression. Please, attention to Gastroenterologists ....Do Not overlook MALS. If your patients are telling you they have terrible painful stomach aches, n/v, bloating...symptoms of IBS, Please, look at MALS. Don't write your patients off.  A Thank you to Cleveland Clinic, and to Chicago Comers Hospital MALS team. Thank you with all my heart. <3 <3 <3

Did you ever get an answer or have the surgery? Our 15 year old is likely headed in this direction . I'm seeing so much online about worsened post surgical pain and questionable outcomes. We are in Cleveland but willing to consider travel alternatives for  pediatric vascular surgeons experienced with MALS

does anyone know the best place to get MAL surgery?  Has anyone had a full recovery?  I am a candidate and very worried about the surgery.  Heard it's only 70% sucess rate.

How is your daughter doing now? I have a 16 yr old son with undiagnosed nausea while eating and stomach discomfort. losing weight. His GI doc said if he had MALS, his pain would be much worse.

I have a friend who says her stomach constantly hurts her when she eats and whenever we go out to eat she suddenly gets sick and throws it all up immediately no matter where we are. Sometimes she has lied about throwing up. She has recently said she has gone  to a doctor and said she has MALS. Im not sure how much testing was done but is this something that happens with the disease? i hate to say it but sometimes i wonder if this is the real deal or if she is making herself do it.Also, it it something your born with or do you develop  it?

wow there a MALS TEAM! looks like i have to go to chicago or cleveland because maybe they might know a thing or two about Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome... i've read it's possible to have one or both condition and i'm worried that may be the case with my fiance; the corrective surgery for SMA has yet to yield any positive results, hence my suspicion :(
