15yr old son constipated

I took my son to ER 10 days ago. He had not had a BM in 2 wks( Unknown at the time). CT scan reveled total empaction with gall stones. Enema was performed with success. We changed his diet. We give a stool softner once a day.  He again has not gone to the bathroom in the last ten days. Note: he is on autistic spectrum and suffered constipation most of his life. I understand the gallbladder and gall stones but have no solution to this question of why the lack of bowel movements.
Any suggestions Thanks
shay

Hi, with severe constipation he needs to be investigated. And presence of gallstones is unlikely to cause severe constipation. Constipation has been categorized as slow transit constipation, normal transit constipation, and obstructed defecation. It could be a functional disorder, so please consult a GI specialist. In the meantime give him plenty of oral fluids and include plenty of yogurt with his diet. Also, try OTC laxatives like Agarolsusp and see if it helps. Regards.
