After partial bowel resection.

I had partial Volon removed like 12 inches...they were going to do a laparoscopic but they found another issue where they had to do one long incision...I was in the hospital for like 8 days...the doctor said I can go to work but not lift anything over 15 pounds...I never went to work I thought it was to soon it's now 4 weeks and still havent gone to work think it's to soon. Dr said after the fifth week of surgery I can go back to regular activitie ha I dont think that is wise....but I go to the bathroom in the morning having a bowel but dont feel like it empties my colon...I have more problems in the evening...I start to go and feel like some pressure, and my recrum feels like it opens up but nothing comes out really maybe a just a little feel like a little constipation...is this normal or should I talk to my doctor...thanks for listening and any advise will help...

I'm sorry.  you have been through a lot!  It's almost like a trauma.  The thing about doctor's advice is that you are not the first patient he's probably had to do this surgery on and he knows what a typical recovery pattern is.  However, all people are different and if you need a bit longer recovery than average, you are entitled to it.  You may be suffering some anxiety post surgery though.  I would schedule a post appointment to discuss your progress, how you have healed and your issue with the feeling of not emptying your bowel. That way you will be able to move on with confidence after the surgery.
