Hello,
I went to an acupuncturist 11 days ago. There was another person receiving the treatment while I went in the room. After the session is completed, I accidentally got poked by an acupuncture needle laying on the ground closer to the other bench. I saw a drop of blood coming out of my foot as the acupuncturist removed the needle, he then cleared the area with cotton and an orange liquid and I left. Later at home I become anxious and called the clinic, acupuncturist told me that I have nothing to worry about but I am still concerned about the issue as no one can know the hiv status of the other person receiving the treatment.
I have read some threads in this website about similar issues and responses was such that acupuncture needle can’t transmit hiv. I also saw that CDC has one documented case of hiv transmission by acupuncture and I am very stressed.
Is it possible in my case that I might got hiv if the needle is contaminated with blood of an hiv patient. I am really worrysome, should I get tested?
Thank you
