A nervous wreck after 6 week neg HIV test.

ok hopefully i can iron out the details of my exposure clearly. i could write a really long explanation of how i feel and how much this has got to my head but i know that post will be much much longer. to get to the point i am a nervous wreck! i have already had a few panic attacks and seem to keep manifesting multiple sypmtoms for myself. (sore on tounge, itchy skin, strange nerve pain for a few days in my shin etc.

long story short, i stupidly exposed myself to a very risky situation a while back. while on a business trip i met a japanese girl from japan. during the course of my week away we had many sexual encounters. i had condoms and used them at times, but at other times i did not since i only bought one small box and they were gone fairly quickly (stupid stupid stupid!!) there were plenty of times when we had vaginal sex with no protection during our encounters. the only thing i know about her is that she said she has been with 6 other guys. all of who were japanese. i am hoping this helps my chances since i have done some searching and found the hiv rate to be lower in japan. however there were a few days during our encounters that she had her period. i had vaginal sex with her during this time both with and with out condoms. no anal sex at all. i washed my penis after every time we had sex. before this i have had no high risk exposure. the last time i was with her was on february 28th 2010. 40 days later (april 9th 2010) i tested negative for HIV in a NYC clinic that uses the oral rapid test. this did give me some initial relief, but i know there is alot of talk about the 3 month window. to make this situation worse i am married and extremely afraid i will pass this to my wife. this is the first and last time i will ever put myself in this situation. its sooo not worth it and killing me inside. it has already been a life changing situation. i love my wife very much and i want to put this behind me forever! the regret and anxiety i feel is tremendous. what are the odds that i am deff neg after a 40 day antibody rapid test? i am a pretty healthy guy for the most part and normally never even get a cold. wondering how much health determines how soon or late antibodies would should up at a high enough level for a hiv test. i plan to go back at the 3 month mark to be extra sure, but any advice or important info that might help is greatly appreciated. thanks so much if you read this. i need help!!

I know at 3 months, 99% of exposed individual with have antibodies. I supposed it must be the good old bell curve. I am in a similar situation at 29 and 45 days post exposure my results are negative. I had Oraquick test on day 29 and Wester Blot on day 45. I am a nervous wreck too and have been under extreme stress. Hopefully both of use are okay. You can email me at gmail  (id is hansenssmith). Good luck.

Conclusive result is at 3 months, anything before that is good, but only at 3 months is it conclusive.

ok its official ... negative for HIV via DNA by PCR and negative for HIV via antibody test. these were collected a little over 6 weeks after exposure. anyone object to me being in the clear now?? i am gonna close this case and put it behind me as a lesson fully learned so i can focus on loving my wife and being a better person ... unless somebody thinks these results are unreliable. thanks for the advice people. this site is really a good thing

Just out of curiosity, how do you know the poster? :) As far as I can tell he has made three posts. I also posted some other questions regarding the episode on the other thread.

sorry let me rephrase that. How close certain in percentage would this result be for most people in my situation. Hope that makes more sense.

you know the window period is 3 months...why ask "what are the odds that i am deff neg after 40 day antibody rapid test"? The answer is 0. Conclusive result is at 3 months, anything before that is good, but only at 3 months is it conclusive.
