Bleeding cut during sex

Hi,

I have a quick question that I hope that you guys can help me with. I was a top partner in anal sex with a man that claimed to be negative. I used condom for sex and the condom did not break. However, earlier that day, I cut myself on my penis shaft (near the base) while shaving. The cut was very small (about 1mm by 1mm). After sex, I noticed that the cut was opened and there was small amount of blood around it. Now I can’t be sure if the cut was actually covered completely by condom or not. I think it was but if I assume that it wasn’t, what would be my risk for HIV transmission? I just want to know if this is something I should be worried about.

Thanks.

Thanks Teak for your explanation. It certainly makes sense that when the blood flows out, the virus can't get in. Just one last thing (and I promise no follow ups): you mentioned chest wound in your reply, now in my case the cut was on my penis shaft near the base. Does that change you assessment?

Blood flows out unless you have a sucking chest wound an if you did you wouldn't have been having sex.

Thank you for your help. So can I assume that even with a bleeding cut during sex, there was no risk? Isn't a bleeding cut act as an opening for the virus to enter the body? I appreciate if you can please explain why this does not pose any risk.

Not a risk

Thanks Lizzie. Just to be clear, the cut was healed before sex but opened again during anal sex (when I was inside him) and I noticed the open cut (with small amount of blood) after sex and after I removed the condom. I'm just not sure if the condom was rolled down enough to cover the small bleeding cut.

transmission takes place INSIDE the body...when an unprotected penis is INSIDE a vagina / anus.

hiv is a very fragile virus that requires almost near perfect conditions to transmit.  this is found in the vagina / anus.
