Oral sex without ejaculation? So many opinions and no facfs

Statistics

HIV+ 1/1,000 or 1/1,250 per oral sex act with ejaculation (predict 1/2000 without)

Unknown status 1/10,000 or 1/20,000 per oral sex act with ejaculation or without

Case Study

I once had an episode of unprotected oral sex without ejaculation with a transsexual whom I meet through a dating website. This single episode lasted no longer then 10 to 15 minutes with mild tongue kissing and unprotected oral sex performed on both of us for only a few minutes each. I also spat out what pre-cum and saliva I had in my mouth twice (once on her dick and then straight after sex) and there were no clear visible open cuts or sores on him or me – though, saying that it was quite dark in the room, but then again everything appeared fine. It should be noted that I meet this individual in London and he\she seemed quite fine. She was quite intelligent, had a good job, genuine but very introverted like most French people I know are (no offence intended) which totally put me off “Hence the brief episode”. My oral health seems OK but then again I’m no dentist or doctor. Could there have been unknown infections or damage that is unnoticeable? The NHS last dental check me about 2 years ago, and apart from the usual; biting myself now and again and sensitive teeth) everything orally has been fine. Plus (and you will probably most definitely wouldn’t recommend this to me) but I had to lie to the health clinic, when they risk assessed me fro PEP and I‘ve been taking PEP (because of my uncontrollable anxiety) - about 43 hours after infection for the last 2 weeks.

Reasons to consider:

1. I am unaware of her STDs and/or HIV status (she told me her last check up was about 2 months ago and has only had one another partner since – but then again who knows). She also told me that she always practices safe sex but then she obviously practises unprotected oral sex. Even my sexual health advisor who is obviously gay tells me that he does not consider pre-cum a potential risk unless its under very niche circumstance, such as ulcers, bleeding gums, sore, past gonherrhea infections, etc. He also told that the amount of people giving blowjobs without condoms does not equate to the theoretical and scientific studies of HIV been transmitted by oral sex. She also told me she has had no symptoms too.

2. I am unaware of her actual viral load (If she says she last got check 2 or say 3 months ago indicates that if she were to be HIV+ she would in doubt have a higher viral load but then there might have been a short period of time of not so high transmission levels say maybe as early as 1 or 2 weeks prior to the infection). No acute symptoms too – she was quite old as well (35/40)

3. Unaware of my potential STDs such as Gonorrhoea and Chlamydia, (I was initially screened for HIV which was negative, Sypllis, and Hepatitis A, B, C). No symptoms so far.

4. Bad oral hygiene (possibly route but once again I am no expert)

WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST? AM I AT RISK? IF I HAVE NO STDS WHAT ARE MY CHANCES? SHOULD I BE WORRIED?

if you are on PEP you are doing more damage than the no risk B/J

You need to calm down and get a test. In 20 min you will find out but I bet that still will not satisfy you.

You need to stop posting and reading. You had no risk.

Thank you so much for your reply mike. I am currently on PEP at the moment and have to wait about week for my STD results then another three or so months for the HIV results... The way I looked at it (probably because I panicked) is why take the risk just take the PEP but now I have to be honest with you - before your comments, which were very useful by the way, I have been going nuts. Major OCD! I am rather researching on the net or thinking about it... Maybe I should just confess to the clinic - get off the damn PEP; have a Duo test in 6 weeks and then get back on with my life. Or maybe it is not worth the risk of a potentially life threatening disease? Especially if I have any STDs. You see, this is what my mind is like right now! ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE?

The first agent that was working in your favor was your own saliva which contains sugar protiens that inhibits the virus.

Johnny-boy! No, you aren't going to be infected in that way, I promise you. It just doesn't happen that way. You need to understand that the transmission scope in oral sex is missing. Doesn't work that way. In your case specifically, I don't see any scope of transmission whatsoever, your own body was working in your favor to prevent the viral contraction. Even if you consumed infected semen, the gastric acid in your stomach was another agent that was working in your favor to succesfully inhibit the virus. Practically, oral sex is no risk.

I understand, your symptoms are forcing you to look at it from only one angle at this juncture but you have to realize that its nothing but the mind that's playing games with your body. I have seen many posters here in the span of last 3 years posting on this website complaining about every single symptom that book reads. However, whoo-hooing their negatives at the 12th week. You're fine. You are HIV negative.

I think that there are currently about 36 million people living with HIV/AIDS as compared to the very few cases and studies out there of receptive oral sex transmission in which the experts have still failed to show a definite link. One study suggests that oral sex could be responsible for almost 5 to 8 percent of newly infected HIV patients. But no-one has really answered my question yet: surely in my case (assessing my own risk) I would be the first person in the world to catch HIV from my experience? I performed oral sex on a man in one short encounter whereby the pre-cum (if there was any) was spat out with no visible signs of damaged or other STDs.

I strongly feel your intial post was not required. Please understand that this is not an HIV research forum. I would sincerely advise you to keep your posts limited to your situation specific question or discussion only. Please understand that we have WWs coming here with no to low knowledge about HIV and are extremely anxiety ridden. Furthermore their ignorance on the subject of HIV pushes them to the state of paranioa and aparently OCD for a few.

The information that you have collated, has a lot of loop holes. Firstly, let me state very clearly that "people do lie" about their exposure once found out they are positive. Secondly, this information is old. Third, would you believe, if I tell you that I am Dr.HHH writing to you trying to bring in some rationality here, tonight? UNDERSTAND this is internet, people can post any thing they wish too. We lately had some one here in the forum professing to be the "Oomph man", poster boy for this renowned fitness magazing an then he bought some $300,000 monster truck and then he was flying around in the world in eighty days. We used our own brains, we told ourselves - Yes, this is internet :P (Couldn't resist the temptation to write about it....LOL!)

Look, yes - there's been couple of recorded cases in the history of HIV through oral being reported. However, the cause being oral is still being questioned for several reasons - scientific sense, authenticity, transmission mechanism etc. Forget about every thing else, just a reality bite here - couple of recorded cases of individuals contracting HIV through oral VS billions of people infected in the world. Some thing doesn't strike right, isn't it? That's your answer! You're fine. You are HIV negative.

I have never heard of any cases like this; through my research nor has anyone else?

The only two or three possible cases I could find were with ejaculation, multiply exposures (up to 7 or 10 times), cuts, sores from recent dental work or inflammation say from gonerherra. I am trying to risk assess my exposure. Surely in my situation I would be the first person in the world (and the most unlucky) to catch HIV from encounter of receptive oral sex without ejaculation?

THIS ANSWER IS DIRECTED AT CANERMY? THANKS

I know the risk is very low, especially if I haven't got any cuts, sores, and other STDS but surely wouldn't I be the first person ever in the world to have caught HIV through one brief episode of receptive oral sex without ejaculation? Do you know of any other cases (homosexual and heterosexual)? I mean I cant sleep, eat, work or socialize (I am totally depressed) because of this recent trauma and these damn window periods for testing and the non accurate opinions on the internet which conflict each other (each with there own agenda's) and, of course, it really doesn't help sometimes when people threatened by a like changing and potentially life threatening disease because of our mistakes?

Oral sex was never a risk. The PEP was not even warranted. You are fine.
