Is there any risk? It has been a long night

My wife had our second child tonight and due to blood loss my wife required a transfusion.Is there any risk of hiv with this, I just need a good nights sleep and need this out of my mind. Thanks in advance!!!!

Thank you! It is not that I didn't trust anyone else, I have just read many of your posts and know that you have a lot of knowledge about this subject. I feel dumb for the simple fact that this shouldn't have even made worry. I am not sure why it even made me nervous. I appreciate your kindness and hope you have a fantastic holiday.

I concur with what everyone has told you. The blood banks are safe and the blood and blood products are tested repeatedly. You and your wife have no concern. Congrats on the new one.

Congrats on your new baby!  Hope wife and baby are doing fine.   Blood transfusion in 2008 is extremely safe;  Now go get a good nights sleep.............you're going to need it with that little one coming home soon!

Nope, all donated blood is vigorously tested for HIV and other pathogens.
I don't think there's been a transmission in this manner for some years now, although someone may have to correct me on that.
