Thank you so much! So I don't need anymore tests?
"Can both the antigen and antibodies be undetected at a certain time (like the antigen is disappearing but the antibodies is still not enough to be detected?"
This is impossible. It is the antibody that clears antigen out of the blood. You cannot become antigen negative until after antibody appears.
"is that why acute hpv won't affect the hiv combo test?"
No, that isn't the reason. See my comment above. There are NO medical condtions that have any effect on the reliability of the duo (antigen + antibody) HIV test.
It cannot affect. No medical conditions can affect the HIV test. If that was the case, everytime an individual would go for a hiv test would have been asked to fill a checklist of them not having medical conditions that would affect the test. Its simple logic :)
And how about hepatitis C to the hiv test? Thank you!
Antigens are detected for a few initial days after infection takes place but there are chances of antigens disappearing as antibodies are produced. BUT Antibodies by then are formed and are detected hence the combo test, tests for both antigens and antibodies, so if antigens are not detected, antibodies are detected. The incubation period is 4 weeks by then the antibodies are generated. Just relax and stop reading random material over internet. They will only confuse you and make your mind play games like "what if".
Thank you so much! But I still have some questions
1.Can both the antigen and antibodies be undetected at a certain time (like the antigen is disappearing but the antibodies is still not enough to be detected? )
2. If the first situation is impossible, is that why acute hpv won't affect the hiv combo test (according to some websites, hvp probably can inhibit the increase of hiv antibodies, but are there still antigens if the antibodies are not detectable? )
Thanks
Hi Yinyina,
I agree with HowardH. Many websites have different stories. No medical conditions can affect the tests becoz the test identifies HIV antibodies-antigens. You have been tested negative successfully :).
God bless.
Thanks for answering my question. I still worried coz I just saw something on this website http://www.drtanandpartners.com/hepatitis-c-affecting-the-hiv-window-period/
"Can acute HPV affect the 4th generation HIV test?"
No. There are no medical condtions that affect the 4th generation HIV test. Your negative result proves you don't have HIV, regardless of HPV or any other health problem you may have.
