is there ANYTHING that can prevent the development of antibodies with the rapid test? Thanks
thanks. i bet its not just me that seem to be confused with all this window period ordeal. i know i placed myself at risk tremendously, but have learned from this experience and will NEVER engage in this kind of activity. I received a call from the clinic today, stating that I left my student id. It sounded like the same nurse that I spoke with. When I arrived, I dont know why I asked, but asked her the window period question. She was nasty and said it varies among every person, most will test at 3month, but there are some that will test up to 6 months. I go to UCSC and hoped that they couldve been more helpful and comforting.
Your negative result is conclusive. Any recommendation to test outside of 3 months is outdated.
As a homosexual man, you MUST insist on condoms each and every time you have anal sex with another male. You got lucky, you engaged in the riskiest kind of sexual activity there is as far as HIV goes. As Lizzie Lou always says..."Sex lasts a moment, HIV lasts a lifetime".
No they haven't and you won't either. These cases that you might be suggesting happened over 20 years ago.We have the best tests avaliable to us now.
Has anyone ever tested positive after testing negative at three months? I read the doctors say eight weeks is accurate, but its kind of scary to have not one firm answer. Thoughts?
Thanks!
It will never happen. In fact, I am going to start dating guys, and looking for someone stable. I am so glad I was able to come out of this OK. I am young and was so naive with everything, but now, I come first, my health and my future.
Thanks for all the support!
Dear Southbay,
You are negative. As a gay male I hope you never take this chance again. I am 32 and I have never had unprotected anal sex. Please stay safe!
Thanks Teak. God bless you. Merry X-mas!
Your 3 months is conclusive herpes or not.
Teak,
last question before i get off this site, it doesnt matter if I have herpes 2 in my rectum, the 3 month rule still applies? It was the same person who topped me that gave it to me, he admitted he had it. my GP advised me that i tested positive of this last month.
Thanks
Any idea why the nurse said to come back at 6months? Ever seen a test go from neg to pos after the 3month window period?
I asked the guy that had sex with me and he said he went to test 2 weeks ago and was neg. I know I can't trust his word and trust me, I am for sure not having anymore unprotected sex, ever. I was intoxicated and things got out of hand.
I'm pretty sure I don't have cancer, the oral swab is reliable correct? Thanks
You don't have compromised immune disease.
Relax if you are immuno compromised then u wouldn't be here sitting n typing. Those people with immune suppression are people who have or are undergoing chemotherapy for cancer etc.
Your safe to move on.
Hi,
What is an immuno compromised disease? This was my first ever test so relatively new to this whole thing. I know this is now part of my life as I am gay.
You have tested conclusively negative.
Hello according to the posters here.if you have tested negative at 3 months and if u do not have any immuno compromised disease then ur fit and fine.you do not need additional testing after 3months.
Stay safe n always wear good quality condoms
