Unprotected anal

Hi all been three hell and back in regards to Hiv wondering if someone can help me. Well I had unprotected anal and went on pep I tested out till 21 days after finishing pep. Do you I still need to test out till 28 days. I have had a burning throat a day after my test at 21 days don’t know whether that is to do with Hiv or acid reflux. However the partner that was with at the time also tested 30 days after our sexual exposure he was negative but do I have to test out till 28 days. As I haven’t been able to sleep with my wife since.

Did you say you went on PEP at 29 days? That's obviously not how pep is prescribed so I hope I'm wrong on that. If I am wrong and you were on pep at 29 days when you tested, that would not be conclusive as hiv testing takes place AFTER pep is finished to be accurate. A test at 21 days after pep is finished is very likely to not change. But not conclusive until 28 days after. And if the other person did not have HIV, you could get it. Actually HIV is quite hard to contract and less than 1 percent transmission takes place with a single anal sex exposure.

I didn’t say I went on pep at 29 days I said the partner I was with tested at 29 days and he was negative. I went on pep after 63 hours of exposure which I took for 28 days. Now it’s been 24 days since I have finished my pep course.  But I tested on Friday which was 21 days past finishing my pep. Which was negative….
You can't be positive since he isn't. It is time to move on from hiv.
Got it. Well, the other person tested negative so you couldn't get HIV, right? And you had a low risk. And took PEP. You tested negative, I'd assume that this negative won't change. If you can't eave it be, then retake a test at 28 days. Expect a negative.
That’s fine I will test at 28 days which will be Friday and leave it at that. It’s just that I lost a lot of wait and now the sore throat which freaked me out.
If a mother's child gets a sore throat she doesn't take it to the hospital to test for hiv. You should expect sore throats - you should not be surprised by them and fall apart emotionally to the point that you think impossible things can happen such as a negative person gave you hiv.
Hi all, 28 days post pep and I have taken an Hiv duo Not detected. Still have a dry throat and sore throat but a negative test is conclusive 28 days post pep so in total 58 days past exposure. Kind regards
Khyankar.
Dry throat (with a burning sensation that comes and goes) I know you can’t go of symptoms but having had duo test today at 28 days can I breathe sigh of relief forget about it and Move On?
You should have forgotten about this once you learned of your partner's negative HIV status.  You should DEFINITELY move on now.
I didn’t want to rely on his test I didn’t know whether he was on medication to suppress his condition if he had hiv. Whether the test would have picked him up or not so I was very confused so I had to wait for my own test as I took pep so I’ll leave it at that now and ignore my throat
Good morning, my anxiety about this situation has slowly faded away however still left with a sore throat. Is a 28 day Post-pep test definitely conclusive or should I retake at a later stage. Last question about this and I’m not going to ask anymore questions in realtion to this. Many thanks
Honestly I just need the answer to this for closure as I haven’t been able to sleep with my wife due to to this and also my wife is breast feeding my new born so I want to close all doubts there and move forward it was a silly mistake that I had made and need to get the thought out of the way with 100% confidence thank you so much
You are illogically going around in circles.  We already covered all you needed to know on May 9. > "hiv docs can't diagnose from symptoms so you should stop trying to diagnose from your throat."
"So I don’t need to test if he has a negative test 29 days past our exposure. "

BUT you are circling around asking today about YOUR test and your throat. This is not a throat forum so see doc about it instead of continuing to try to work up your hiv infection idea which was disproven on May 9.
I just noticed your post about not relying on him being on med to suppress his condition. If he was on those meds it is likely he couldn't infect you but in any event your test now is conclusive so it is time to move on.
Thank you for answering that, I was thinking about that a lot. I thought maybe he stopped taking his meds and only started when I started questioning him about his status but he did test 29 days later and is willing to test again tomorrow but has stopped replying to me I have also stopped messaging him. I just need full proof that I’m okay but thank you and I will trust these results of the last test I took and move on from this I have learnt my lesson and will never put myself in this position ever again.

A duo is conclusive after 4 weeks so if that is what your partner used then obviously you don't need to test. If he doesn't know what kind of test he used then he should take a duo now OR you can test for yourself after 28 days - but you don't get hiv after each encounter so your test won't prove his status.
hiv docs can't diagnose from symptoms so you should stop worrying about your throat.

Sorry I placed the conversation in the wrong comment

Thanks so much for the information. He used a Hiv ag/ab test at 29 days to be exact after our exposure. But I still went on pep because I couldn’t get hold of him at the time and didn’t want to risk it. So I don’t need to test if he has a negative test 29 days past our exposure. I’m now on 24 days post pep. Does it have to be exactly 28 days including every hour of my last tablet.

You can't be positive since he isn't. You should stop taking pep and move on from hiv fears. PEP can have permanent side effects so you don't want to be taking any of it for no reason at this point.
I stopped taking pep 24days ago as that’s when it was my last dose. I took it every day for 28 days now it’s been 24 days past taking pep. My last pep dose was at 10pm on the 15th of April. When can I take a test for conclusive results everywhere I read 6 weeks 12 weeks 6 months. Just so confused I know he tested negative at 29 days but for my own test when would it be best to test that’s all thank you
You must be very anxious because you aren't making sense. Reread all of the advice until you understand it.
Your partner is negative so therefore you are also negative. I can't make it any simpler for you.
