blood infection test

Hello

I have had a lot of headaches in the past month so I went to a doctor, he took some blood samples to make some tests on including CBC and something he called infection test....I asked him what type of infection he said bacteria or virus infection....so my question is, could this show if I had HIV or not???   or only STD tests in particular could show HIV infection???

Thanx

What the test likely was was blood cultures.  They collect the blood in bottles versus vials?  It is to show if there is a bacterial infection (sepsis) in your blood.  the ONLY blood test that will test for HIV is an HIV test.  There is NO standard non HIV test that will show ANY variation that would indicate one's HIV status.

No they just did these tests to know the cause of these headaches and fatigue I'm experiencing....So they need to do it anyway

but I was just wondering if this test will also tell me anything about STD's.....like could they at least find that there's something wrong with me? in other words, could I be sure that I dont have STD's if they told me that my results were ok ??

Thanx

Doesn't tell them what to look for.. Why wasn't you truthful with your doctor and tell him what your concerns were so that you didn't waste their time and money doing unnecessary tests.
