how serious is stage 1 diastolic dysfunction?

I just had an echocardiogram and was told I had stage 1 diastolic dysfunction in the left ventricle. He did not tell me anything to do about it other than to have another echocardiogram in a year.  My blood pressure is normal and I have not had a problem with high blood pressure.  I am T2 diabetic but my a1c was 5.9 and I control it with a low carb diet.  No meds.  All he suggested was that I monitor my blood pressure.  Is there anything else I need to be concerned with? Will this progress?  Can it cause other problems? Do I need to be more concerned? Any information on this would be helpful.

Few if any of these problems get "better"... and the diagnosis to keep a watch (regular echo tests in our case) seems to be standard for many health issues.  It there is little or no change, and we can live with the symptoms we leave "well enough alone"... when to take more invasive action always depends on the risk/benefit ratio.  Surgery, if called for, is always risky.  This is a discussion, the risk/benefit, you need to have with your doctor.

On the positive side, the fact your doctor said all you need do for now is watch for change, is good news I think.
