Obstructive HCM

I have obstructive HCM..along with A-fib and PVC's..I am a 50 yr old female and was diagnosed at 38..so almost 13 yrs ago..I am just going to my Cardiologist..but have been speaking with a surgeon..each specializes in one or the other ( HCM and-A-fib)..so they are working together..oh the tests I have been taking are to maybe try new meds..or try one of the procedures..but transplant has not been discussed..I just threw in there do it if that will help..however..when I was diagnosed..they did say that I would have about 10 yrs to live..but new technology comes out all the time..I will read from my TEE test...my right vent is fine..Tricuspid valve has regurgitation..my pulmonic valve does as well..as well as my Mitral valve..my left ventricle has severe ventricular hypertrophy..this was thru an electrical cardioversion..but does not say how thick my heart is..I am on Norpace CR 400 mg..Toparol..200 mg..and coumidin 7.5..oh and I also have a gradiant..so enlarged heart...leaky valve and the gradiant..along with a heart murmur..my EF is 55%..how would you best treat my heart disease? I dont feel so well now that the A-fib and PVC's have started..Thank you so much ! Have a great day !!

Your ejection fraction is in the normal range (50 to 70% amount of blood pumped with each heartbeat), but sometimes there is a decrease of blood filling the chamber so the cardiac output is reduced.

It seems the focus of therapy would be to stablize the heart rate and preserve left ventrical functionality with medication (beta blocker...toparol).  Control blood pressure, etc. to prevent or delay progress/ stop diastolic dysfunction (filling pattern). And Norpace is an antiarrhythmic medication.  The medication should have favorable effecrt on A-fib and PVC's. Coumidin is effective in preventing clots in the event of an arrhythmia episode.

It appears your doctors are treating you well with the medication...i don't know of any other therapy at this time.  Hope this helps some and thanks for sharing.  Take care.
