Stress echo

Two previous abnormal stress tests (Lexiscan sestamibi and Gated Spect tetrofosmin w/exercise), now ordering a stress echo. What makes a stress echo more definitive? Previous tests could not determine actual problem versus soft tissue attenuation.

The abnormal stress tests would be in regard to to blood flow through the vessels with rest and with exercise.

The echo will view the structual integrity of the heart walls, chamber size, blood flow through the valves with a doppler test, intra chamber pressures, and the ejection rate (amt. of blood pumped with each heartbeat), etc.

If you have an abnormal stress test, the echo will help determine if there is any heart damage due to the condition observed with the stress test.

Thanks for sharing and if you have any further questons or comments, you are invited to respond.  Take care,
