Hey guys. So it turns out I didn't need to be stented after all. I have a congenital defect where my artery is kind of floppy and it eventually "kinked up". The blood clotted in one of these kinks and caused my heart attack. So the doctors pumped the dye thru them and found that the arteries are actually clear. I'm on meds now that should prevent another attack (amlodipine, tritace, crestor and xarelto). Feeling a bit tired and nauseous since I've started, but you said I should get past that right?
Only a treating cardiologist,(the best that you can find) can tell you. Listen to NO one else.
Obviously this a question you should pose to your cardiologist.
You might have stunned heart cells, and no permanent damage as long as you can take the medications, watch your diet and exercise as your doctor prescribes. I had 7 heart stents over a seven year period and always went back to light weight activity as well as walking about 3 miles a day three days a week and swimming a mile two days a week. However, you will undoubtedly be prescribed with a beta blocker, maybe an ACE inhibitor as well as other drugs, and they can knock the stuffing out you for a few weeks. It takes a while for the body to get used to them, but they are designed to activate stunned cells, so your activities may feel like you are wearing a sea anchor. Just listen to your doctor, don't push the envelope. I'm twice your age, but I stayed on the sunny side of the earth by having patience, listening to my Cardiologist and slowly exercising back to a relatively high level. Keep us informed.
I forgot to mention, that at a recent echo cardiogram, the doctor said my heart looked great and you couldn't tell I'd had a heart attack.
