I cant seem to find any info on this, could you assist please rob

anywhere between 55-70 is normal so you are doing fine at the moment. If the septal wall gets thicker, it can affect the % yes. It can also obstruct the outflow of blood from the heart.

Hi Rob, I think you need to establish from the specialist if you have HCM. This is usually a genetic condition where the cells in the muscle change and the septum is usually the starting point. Pericarditis (infection) is more common in patients with HCM and needs to be treated with an anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen. It looks as though your reason for the raised troponin has been found. If they diagnose HCM then there is no cure, just meds to help with symptoms. Your report just says your septum is thicker than usual which could mean anything, which is why it is important you are told by a professional if you have HCM or not.

Hi ed I had my echo scan and it revealed that the virus has caused  fluid around the heart and the wall between the left and the right sides of the heart is alot thicker than usual.the blood flow through my heart is 55% to 65%.ive been booked to see a specialist on the 20th may.is 55 to 65% blood flow considered normal or average,(I'm a 54 year old,non smoking, non drinking, postman who has regular daily exercise),is this middle heart wall thickness a problem and what causes it,and if you recall I asked you b4 about troponin levels, where mine had increased from 92 to 373,is it likely that the above conditions, supposedly caused by this virus back in January is responsible for these troponin level responses, and what would you think the specialists main course of action is likely to be,regards Rob

any troponin level above zero indicates a heart issue, and yours has increased. The troponin level is just an indicator, not an actual acuteness marker.

Your echo scan should reveal the answer, if it is associated with your heart. It could be that the virus is attacking your heart muscle or put you into some kind of autoimmune response, where your own body attacks your heart. There are medications for autoimmune responses, and if it's due to your viral attack then it needs to be addressed immediately. If it doesn't appear to be your heart, then that's obviously good news for your heart. How is your pulse and blood pressure?
