I feel cheated!

Sorry this is more of a rant of something I've seen lately than anything else; not meant to offend anyone but I have a HUGE issue with something and no I'm not dissing MH - I just get frustrated with it sometimes...esp the lack of edit button lol

2 or 3 times in the past months I've seen a doctor answer in this forum - normally they answer a new member and they won't address those posters who have been here many for years who have legitmate concerns and questions!  how do they pick and choose what questions to be answered? I've tried to see what they answer hoping it's something that may relate to others who post with questions also.

sorry, it may be the pain from my spine talking or the irritability of knowing there IS a doctor here who can answer questions...I've asked questions in the expert forum and noticed for a few weeks doctors there also didn't answer and left many unanswered.

hate to be a nuisance sorry

ohhhh you had me going there and I was getting excited!

I can see both sides and been on both sides of what you're saying here.  Some sites let you edit within a minute - that would be handy for typo's, some sites you can't edit at all; MH is a great site and a lot less moderated than some.

I have one site I go to that has these hidden rules, that if you break them they knock your name down to guest then take your account and won't even explain why.... their response is - we at XX XX expect you to read, know and follow the [hidden] rules - don't even think about asking questions in your journal there - it's against the hidden rules lol for istance - today my back is killing me and I can't figure out why? any idea what I should do or take? [bam] your account is knocked down :P

thanks for the link I'm going to check it out

Hi everyone -

An edit button is something we discuss from time to time, and it may happen at some point.  Itdood gave some good reasons why we don't have it now, and I'd like to add that it could really disrupt the flow of some conversations if someone changed their post or deleted their post halfway through a thread.  One option we've discussed is allowing an edit for a certain amount of time after the post.

I can't answer about why the docs answer some questions, and not others.  I will check on that, though.

We have a Suggestions forum that is actually better for, well, suggestions.  We welcome all feedback, good and bad.  http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Improve-MedHelp-Suggestions/show/110?camp=msc

Please let myself or one of the mods know if you have concerns.  We really are here to help.

Emily

thanks Emily; I think everyone who would like an edit button should read the suggestion forum Emily posted - even the one for a certain time limit might help...i think most of us are just used to typo's and read over them, but they bug me when I do so many =)

I would be curious why the doctor's who come in here just pop in the member's community pick a couple of new member's posts and reply; then pop out.. I know there are so many members out there who need help.

oh btw, I gave an instance of the other forum earlier only to find that heavy handed moderation at work again...which is alot more frustrating than no edit button lol

we were discussing disabilities and I put in my journal about my limitations of how my disabilities limit me for others to see how limiting Dysautonomia (autonomic dysfunction) can be and a moderator removed it...[sigh] I didn't break any rules and they didn't send me an email or pm explaining why, they just deleted hours of work

I think I can live without an edit button if I have to =)

If you're talking about the doctor than has some replies to question on the Heart Disease Forum, I think I can shed a little light. Those questions were originally posted on the expert forum and got moved to the Heart Disease Forum. I have not asked why, but I will next time I speak with a Mod.

this was in the HR forum here on May 30th, so maybe that's what happened with those posts also, thanks for the info that would make sense if the posts were moved - just wasn't connecting the dots.

the posts in the HD expert forum was back in March...there was a week or so where no doctor answered, then when they did went to newer posts, could have just been an oversight with the amount of questions asked there - many of them could go in the HR expert forum but no dr has been there for many moons
