I recently read that Amitriptyline is one of the many drugs that can make PVCs worse. It is one that acts as a stimulant on the heart, as does alcohol and caffeine. I have had PVCs for 40 years and have been on different beta blockers for them. But most drugs did not help much and caused depression. Recently I read a study about Acebutolol, an older heart drug, that helped reduce PVCs by up to 70% in participants in the study. I asked my cardiologist about it and he said it was worth a try. They always tell you the irregular beats are benign, but they don't experience the discomfort that they bring on. Anyhow, I am on 400mg twice a day of Acebutolol, and this past year I have had virtually no PVCs. It honestly was like a miracle. I used to get 10,000 to 15,000 PVCs a day, and anxiety also contributed to them. So I can't say if this drug will work the same for everyone, but it's worth a try if the doc says it's okay. I wish you the best. God bless.
