Skipping beats

Can constant skipping of beats of the heart cause damage? I am a 25yr white female that was diagnosed in 2003 with inappropriate sinus tachy, i had 3 ablations (with complete removal of sinus node) After about 1 yr of ablation started having severe bradycardia. I recieved a Medtronic pacemaker Feb. 2006. Single chamber. Oh i also have cardiogenic syncope which i have had since i was 12. with a positve tilt table test of 15 sec heart stoppage. But since the pacemaker i have had constant skipping of heart beats that takes my breath away. with chest pain. Some days i have no energy and feel terrible!  I have not been able to find a good dr. that is willing to listen and help me feel better. I would love for suggestions or any help. Thank you
April

I would have to agree.  Anything can irritate the ventricles and cause the little instigator to try to make trouble!  Sometimes if I sit slouched over it will start them up and I have to arch my back to stop them.  When the do ablations, they use the wire to irritate the areas to stimulate PVCs so it would make sense that the leads may be touching a place where they are not supposed to.

Your screen name seems to indicate that you may be an EMT.  Have you had the pacemaker adjusted in the last 2 years?  I would think so.  By now, yours should have been fine tuned.  Some models of pacemakers have been recalled.  Have you checked with the doctor(s) who implanted yours about that?  The pacemaker leads can become dislodged occasionally and irrritate those areas of heart tissue they contact.  It sounds to me that you need a thorough evalution by an EP.
