Thanks to you and your kind responses, Jerry _NJ too. You guys are the best Hugs right back.
Congratulations on your ablation! I'm sorry it's been rough since. I had my ablation 6 weeks ago and have had some episodes of a-fib (not as long as yours) and I can imagine how disheartening that is. My cardiologist said there's a "minimum 3-6 months blackout phase" where the heart is healing from the ablation and anything can happen.
Yes, I totally agree with you and the other posters (esp Debbier) about the mental/emotional aspects of a-fib and an ablation. I was telling a friend yesterday that I think we can get post-traumatic stress disorder from having heart problems. There's always the threat of hospitalization or worse hanging over you. I've had lots of nightmares since the ablation and most of them seem to be tied into feeling helpless and suspended in limbo. Maybe we ought to do our own study of psycho-social-emotional aspects of ablation?
Wishing you the best, yes Cindy is right, it takes time. Try to relax and talk to your cardiologist about your fears.
Sending hugs!
Thank you for the props everyone. I really appreciate it.
Good Luck today Candi. I hope the episode was a freak thing and part of the healing process. I can relate to how your feeling. When ever I get an SVT run I get so depressed. I thought I was free. I want off the meds but still need them. I am now at 5 months and I think I need to seek therapy rather than seeking an appt with my EP. These conditions cause us to focus all of our thoughts and fears on a daily basis to our heart. I am sick of obsessing about it. I think its 50% mental 50% heart issues.
Keep us updated. Hope everything works out.
I completely understand where you are coming from emotionally here. Been there and done that one. I know it is dis heartening but like Jerry said it really is a little soon to know for sure if it is isolated incidents that will become less and less as time goes on or not. The mental aspects are really the truth aren't they? I think i read somewhere that when we die tht we go thru these 7 stages emotionally of dealing with it and i think someone should apply that to all of us from point A to Z if we have issues that require not only ablations but other heart issues too...just hang in there Candi and know that you are not alone here in this....we are all here with you whether or not people respond back with a post or not...do not let this get the best of you here....most of us have been thru the same thing as you have an i had some pretty major issues up until the 4th month after the ablation and then things started to settle down with my heart and after that the road to recovery was pretty smooth. You can do it Candi...just hold tight and if all else fails tell that doc that got paid the big bucks....so what are we gonna do now to take care of this? If he/she can't answer it time to find a doc that does.....good luck Candi.....
I assume the ablation was for AFib, right?
While I suffer form permanent AFib, I have never had an ablation, so I can not draw from my personal experience, but... I have read about ablation on this Community many times and I think a healing period of longer than 3 months have been reported. What does your doctor(s) think?
