Could you please send me a mail telling me exactly how often these episodes last, and how long you have been on 80g propranolol and what effects have you had from them so far? I will need this information in order to assess your situation. Thanks.
As we in the USA move to government controlled/managed health delivery I find your problems, I consider them problems, with your medical system very worrisome... that said, and to your problem:
1) I think you should wear a heart monitor recorder for at least a few days, or has that already been done
2) beta blockers can have the side effect symptoms you mention, some people can't take BB medications. Maybe a calcium channel blocker will provide some relief
3) you must find some way to keep your resting heart rate below 100, meds help most of us with high heart rate and high blood pressure
4) BB and CCB can cause a too low BP in those who take the to lower our HR. In my case my body adjusted to BB + CCB and my BP is near normal.
5) I suffer from trouble-mares every night, usually several. Not nightmares, just troublesome and I can't say it is due to BB and/or CCB, but I live with the sleep problem so that my HR can run below 60 during sleep and run in the 70s when up and about reading or watching TV. My HR goes to 90 or 100 with moderate physical activity. I no longer run for exercise : (
