Can Hep A clear Hep B

I found out that I had Hep B about nine months ago. My results were

hbsag positive
Anti hbc igm negative
Hbeag non reactive
HBV Dna PCR quantification less than 50 iu/ml
I never checked hbsab
Because I was anti hbc igm negative, I was declared chronic. As I was planning about my treatment, I got jaundiced and it was revealed that I got Hep A ( yeah I know I am stupid for not getting the vaccine for it). My doctor (being really stupid) prescribed me ribavarin (used to treat hepatitis C which I never had) even though I was already clearing the jaundice and my Alt and Ast were declining when he did this. I took that for about two months but sensing the doctor's incompetence I switched to a gastroenterologist who took me off ribavarin and ordered HAV IGG which came out positive and an abdominal ultra sound which showed mild liver inflammation with all the organs in good condition. He also ordered a hbsag test which came out negative. My gastroenterologist says that my hep A helped in clearing my hbsag. Does it really happen? My hbsab were negative at that time but he asked me to test again in December as it usually takes this much time. I am worried that I have hep B mutation because of the ribavarin prescribed to me by that stupid doctor. Moreover, can I start any treatment or anything to make my hbsab come out positive. This community has helped me  a lot in the past giving me hope for my infection. Your suggestions and advice will be much appreciated. BTW should I test for HBV dna again?

Good Day!

Let me clear it out. So as of today you mean you've cleared the hbsag virus?
Good Job! =)

I think I have read post here saying that you can increase the hbsab levels. Maybe by medicine or like a booster shot or something. Maybe you can message stef about it. I hope you've cleared it out asap!

how long will it take to turn back positive?

no rules on this, if you reached a low hbsg also hbvdna will stay und

I know about the HBIG immune booster dose and vaccine. Shall I get it?

no this works only when hbsag is und

I mean the vaccine still has the virus, wouldn't it cause the virus to replicate or it has no effect whatsoever?

no the hbv vaccine has no virus and is not made from viruses

Yes, I am thinking of getting that test done. The quantitative for hbsag. Shall I also go for the hbv dna PCR. I mean if it came negative just because of the superinfection as you call it then how long will it take to turn back positive? And moreover, I know about the HBIG immune booster dose and vaccine. Shall I get it? I mean the vaccine still has the virus, wouldn't it cause the virus to replicate or it has no effect whatsoever? Thanks for your help.

I saw it, We can take a look at her case, but without hbsag quant monitoring nothing can be said just guesses, it could have been an acute infection clearing slow with hbsag 1 iu/ml and it cleared at 12 months which is not unusual and hbcab igm can be negative by that time

Or it can be an inactive carrier with low whbsag which cleared thanks to hav infection

My guess is during antivirals use for many years immune system gets repaired so during a superinfection with hav also hbv will be cleared as it happens in acute

without the use of antivirals for years our immune system is too weak anyway so hbsag is not cleared unless it was already very low

Since 2 other members cleared hbsag by hav infection it is interesting to know if your status were similar or if you were on antivirals too.ribavirin is not that bad except it has sides and doesnt work on hbv, it is mainly an immune system booster

it is well studied and known that  an hbv infected liver has suppressed immune system but when another superinfection happens  and the pathogen is easily detected and cleared by immune system a very interesting thing happens
a study described the situation and when immune system si activated to clear the other pathogen it also clears hbv.the problem is hbv must be weak, very weak to clear complitely and requires and immune activation for more than 6 12 months
so it happens that during clearance of the other patogen also hbvdna clears but when the other pathogen is cleared and immune activation stopped hbvdna slowly rises back again

Lso be aware that to know if you cleared some hbv infected cells you must monitor hbsag quant in iu/ml not hbvdna

No body chronic has symptoms, few acute has too and yes having other infections in the liver helps clear hbvdna but not clear hbv infection

2 members cleard hbsag but were on antivirals since long time so no hbvdna

Hbcab igm neg is 100% chronic while the opposite is not, some chronic canhave hbcab igm pos during alt flares

By the way, I have a question.
Having Anti HBc IgM being NonReactive really means your chronic?
I asked my doctor about it and he said that you can't really tell a chronic patient by lab test. Is this true?
You see, I've got no symptoms and was diagnosed because of my medical report. Anyways, Maybe i'll find another gastro. Whew!
