NATAP/EASL: HBV-Severe Flares Predictors After NUC Stopping, RETRACT-B Study

There were many details. Do try to read the full report. Here is the summary of the Conclusion:
- Hepatic flares after NA cessation are common, especially within the first year
-Most severe flares are early after NA withdrawal, but late flares do still occur
-Higher HBsAg levels at EOT, older age and TDF therapy are associated with an increased risk for flares
-Flares have no impact on functional cure (HBsAg loss)
-Decompensation mainly in older patients, 38% cirrhotic, with high peak ALT- and HBVDNA levels
-Restart NA treatment if HBV DNA > 10.000 IU/ml at week 12 regardless of ALT levels
