Many of us at one point or another have made an every day thing of it in the past... no worries. Lots of helpful folks here who understand the need to vent, and a few who've been thru similar circumstances who are happy to help.
thank you venting a bit realy helps i wont make a every day thing of it
I do not think you're worrying for nothing. It's important to follow-up and it's good that you're doing so. Keep us posted how things to go for you, and whatever the outcome, know that you're not alone in this, we'll try to be here the best we can for you.
My husband had AFP over 2,000 back in 2007, and despite all worse-case scenarios, he's still here, kicking you-know-what and taking names ;). Stay positive, and stay strong. Wishing you best of luck. ~ eureka
Hector is a great person to speak with about your situation. Besides being a wonderful human being he's in the midst of it and knows what he's talking about.

HCC (hepatocellular carcinoma) is a cancer arising from the liver.
I don't know what HCC is.. But I'm waiting on labs and think this whole numbers game is exhausting. I'm w/ you in spirit. Stay strong n just keep taking care of you the best you can today. Don't let it get you down. Have a strong day... Karen:)
Dear Jim -
AFP over 2300!!! I didn't see this post before. I'm sorry.
Anything about 500 is consider HCC. If these numbers are correct. I am sorry.
I have HCC so it is not the end of the world my friend. It is a shock at first but like everything in life we deal with it. You can contact me directly and leave note by the way.
An MRI should see this. But... You have to have experienced technician on the machine and experienced docs to interrupt the scans. You need to go to a transplant center.
I'm sorry I have to run. I will get back to your later...
Hang in there!
Hector
As child24angel says, you need to follow up with your Dr. on this elevated AFP. Has your Dr. commented on it? Most often, an MRI is ordered to get a good look at the liver and rule out HCC. Do you have a follow up appointment? If they haven't commented on it, I would find a new Dr. to manage your liver disease.
Have you had a recent liver biopsy and have you treated before?
It's scary moving forward into the unknown, but it can be even worse when our mind fills in the blanks with all kinds of dark imaginings. Best wishes in moving forward with this, Pam
Hi ,
Often when one has stage 4 cirrhosis , your AFP marker will be high.
Your doctors should follow up with imaging as you stated
above to rule out or find HCC.
I wish you the very best.
