first off I wanna say to all those having insurance troubles, don't give up!! I didn't have to do anything for my insurance to pick it up, I guess I have a wonderful doctor who put a lot of time in with the insurance company. I am on geisinger family. I was denied at first, and the reason for that was they needed a pregnancy test to verify I was not pregnant before I started the medication... I have finished my medication last week, and went for bloodwork, I am still undetected:) which is wonderful news!! I will go for bloodwork in 3 months to see if I still have a negative viral load, if so as my doc said its called SVR (sustained virologic response) and that is considered a CURE to hep c!! I will forever be grateful for the opportunity I was given... there were barely any side effects, I experienced my first migrane on the medication:(, extreme fatigue, and anemia, but nothing major.. today I feel wonderful!! good luck to everyone, and I keep you all in my prayers that have insurance problems.. keep your heads up!! also thank you for allowing me to be a part of this community, it helped me a lot!!
My insurance denied me too, got it on appeal. Found out who the appeal company was (they usually contract out for this) and wrote my own letter, as well. Like I said, got Solvaldi/Olysio on appeal.
I'm on Sovaldi/Oylsio, just crashing fatigue sometimes (but I'm on other immune suppressant meds too) and I'm only on week 2. Am Geno 1b. Not that many sides really, but we'll see. Yesterday my blood test said I went from averge 45/50 on my liver function tests, to 18 and 19 in two weeks! These are miracle pills! 2 more weeks I take my first viral load< I really think I will be undetected! Let's all kill the dragon!
I started Sovaldi and ribiavirin almost a month ago and the nurse forgot to send me to get my blood check to see if my count is still good. Hope I am not in trouble. Any advise. Thanks. Oh, I am going to get blood work tomorrow. Have genotype 2 hep
I started sovaldi/ribshphre(type of ribavirin) on April 11, 2014. No harsh side effects as yet, only mild upset stomach, but quickly goes away. I have genotype 2 and good liver enzymes. Doctor said I may have inherited it from my mother. She died last November from cirrhosis of the liver at 78.
A recent New York Times article said, "Hepatitis C guidelines issued in January by the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and the Infectious Diseases Society of America recommend the new drug Sovaldi with no mention of its cost." Maybe this is additional information your insurance company needs to be reminded of.
