Has Anyone Started a Prescription for Sovaldi yet?
Just curious. I had an appointment with my hepatologist that was rescheduled from the end of November 2013 to the end of March 2014 because they stated that actual drug availability and insurance issues would need to be worked out. They stated that all patients that have been warehoused were rescheduled for appointments in March. I note that my BCBS insurance lists Sovaldi as covered but the pharmacy management plans for specialty drugs do not yet list Sovaldi. Gilead lists several pharmacy distribution centers that currently warehouse Sovaldi but not management plans (i.e., CareMark, Express Scripts).
I called to see if I could be put on a waiting list for an earlier appointment and was told they did not yet have the drug (was an administrator so I am not sure they understood how the approved use of the drug was being distributed).
Just curious whether anyone had actually filled a prescription in the U.S. I know that over 800 prescriptions have already been written since its approval, but how many have actually been filled?

Don't give up! Call, write, tweet, get on social media. It's unethical in my way of thinking for insurance companies to withhold a treatment with such a high rate of cure. What is your insurance company? Maybe others on this discussion board are having the same problem with this company or know others who are and you can band together to demand coverage. Good luck!
I am midway through the Sovaldi/Olysio tx and UND. Thankful for the opportunity to reach SVR. These are great meds. It's a great day in the neighborhood.
call the precertifaction office of your insurance co. ask them what they need from your dr. tell the drs office what they need and stay on them constantly the squeaky wheel gets the oil. I had to fight like hell back and forth before they got so sick of me they went ahead and approved it.....
go to med *** program on line also there is a copay card on line for sovaldi you only pay 5.oo, there is also a ribavirin copay card on line you only pay 5.00, also a pegasys co pay card you only pay 65.00
