I don't want to take antidepressants

I've been taking ambian off and on for years. It's beginning not to work. But, everytime I ask the doctors for something else to help me sleep or something for anziety. They give me antidepressants. I don't want antidepressants. I almost died from antidepressants. I took Zoloft for years. Until they came up with Cembolta(SP). It sounded perfect. I asked the Doctor switch me. She did. I almost died. I didn't go back on Zoloft, and guess what I felt better. I Didn't gain all the weight back that I lost when I almost died, either. I'm still overweight but not as much. But, anyway, I need something to help me sleep. I have Corrhosis, Hep. C, and I need to be on a transplant list. The last 2 antidpressants they tried to put me on were Doxepin 25 MG, and Mirtazapine15 mg. Substituted for Remeron or something like that. So which one is easiest on my liver. And which one is least likely to make gain weight. And which will help me sleep the best without a hang over.
Thank You and God bless You.

I was on the regular Ambien and it got so that it would only work 4 out of 7 nights. I changed to Ambien CR and now I think I have maybe 1 out of 30 nights that I can't get to sleep. I have to remember to take it about an hour before I go to bed, because it doesn't work as fast as they say it will, but once it goes to work, I'm out for the night.

Hi. You probably have already done this but just in case...

You say you are having problems sleeping. You mention you have cirrhosis and need to be on a transplant list. Are you on a transplant list and being treated by a hepatologist?
Have you ever been tested for hepatic encephalopathy? Disturbed sleep patterns (often day-night reversal) are a common symptom of hepatic encephalopathy. It might make sense to check with your doctor who is treating your cirrhosis to rule out HE as a possible cause of your sleep problem.

As per protocol, if you are on a transplant list, all changes in your medications should be communicated to your doctor at the transplant center.

Best of luck.

Gee, it sounds like you are having a tough time.  Are you on tx for hep C?  People build a tolerence to sleep medications.  You might want to ask about Lunesta.  It's for sleep only.  It's expensive and unless you have private insurance it won't be covered.
