I go for the 4 wk. post bloodwork next Monday. I cleared early so I am weirdly more concerned about the recovery of platelets, hgb, wbc and clotting time. Guess I will save the PCR anxiety for 12 weeks.
Thanks Newleaf.
My doc is still a little backward in his standards for treatment. The good thing is that when I do ask for something over and above his standards, he usually goes along with it (as far as extra tests). His standard it to test only at 24 weeks post tx so I guess I'll go ahead and ask for the 4 week and the 12 week. I really cannot see myself waiting 24 weeks.
Standard for trials and many private practices is PCR at 4 wks, 12 wks. and 24 wks. The most important one is the 24 wk., because if you've stayed UD, you will be declared cured. Just for peace of mind, though, most patients want the 4 wk. and 12 wk. I hear that the 4 wk. UD is a good indicator of the 24 wk. results and the 12 wk. is even a better indicator that you'll be declared SVR once you are UD at 24 wks.
Technically, only the 24 wk. is important, but it sure is hard to wait patiently for and most folks want the extra reassurance of the 4 & 12 wk. PCR's.
