I think we are all over sensitive especially those who has already relapsed. I am on the fence with you and feel this anxiety and blind faithe in every cell of my being. My Mom would say: "give time to time". You have done all you can at this point. You did everything right. Every thing is going to be OK. Can't wait for your blood test to prove it and give you and us peace. Fingers crossed. Smile and give yourself a pat on the back for being so strong.
Thanks you guys you are truly the best!
Because your liver is damaged, the jump could have something to do with that.
Wishing you the best~ OH
I think you realize the very high probability this isn't a relapse, but it will be hard to completely relax until you see the results. Wish you the very best with the results and look forward to hearing that you're still SVR. I do hope they can diagnose why the liver enzymes took a jump and get that resolved quickly. Hope to hear an update soon. Good luck.
Univ of Colorado turns their VL samples around pretty quickly. You shouldn't have to wait too long for them.
When i started tx in mid Jan my liver enzimes were AST 80 ALT was 60
they took vVL and i was undetected but liver enzimes were still up like 88 and 70 now I start week 15/24 tomorrow and they still go up each mo. I talked to Hemtologist he lagh said just worry about UND and these will fall back in line. after 3 blood work I still asking he said no worrys . the inj and rib can make them elevated in lot people. I like u worried to but 2 weeks ago on week 12/ mid 13 was UND. Just praying God hands are on me and all of u
bbj
i really feel for you james. i treated for 48 weeks and i relapsed 1 month post tx....it really sounds like your enzymes are just elevated...wishing you the best luck i can send your way.....
I know it is easier said than done, but just try to stay positive and calm and wait for your results. Folks are always saying that the liver enzymes are unreliable in determining Hep. C, and cirrhosis. The only thing we can be sure of is something caused a spike. I have a friend whose liver enzymes went up when she had the flu.(And went down later)
Hang in there. Nothing can be done until you know.
I wish you all the best, James.
That's so anxiety provoking, to have the enzyme results back, and not the VL. I'm always hoping and praying for all of us on here, stay strong James, hopefully you'll have those results soon.
I am just repeating what Xville posted (total 5 posts).
That is why I said in my post to James, that I am not sure that scenario (or her posts) are correct or have the correct information and dates.
I agree with you that it does not sound right. Either the dates are wrong or the treatment stopped early or there was no 6 month post EOT VL drawn until January, or something. I can think of several possibilities.
I don't know what the percentage is of people who relapse after 6 months EOT, but it cannot be high or they would not consider us cured after 6 mo if we stay UND.
PS: I just looked at her older posts from 2010 and 2011, and she did start Dec. 10, 2010 and on April 23 she had 3 more injections left so took her last inj. May 20 (finished Riba May 27). That would be 24 weeks time (I just counted them up on a caledar.) but, then she should have had her 6 month post EOT VL done in late Nov. If she had one drawn in late Nov., why would she have another in Jan. So maybe the only post EOT VL was not drawn until Jan. I really do not know which is why I was hoping she would post more info with dates, numbers, etc.
Thanks man.
Thanks to everyone, we are an assume community.
Agree with Eversons nurse. So many things can cause the numbers to spike..herbs,supplements meds of any kind, fatty liver diabetes sometimes, thyroid gone crazy, muscle injury or disorder, stones are a few among so many..
hang tough James...prolly nothing to worry about..
Will
ALP is normal all numbers are normal except ALT, and AST.
Yes thinking out loud! This doesn't make sense. ALP? Hmnnn good call Will
I just talked to Dr. Everson's nurse. He is the man when it comes to Hep C in Colorado. She said don't jump to conclusions wait for the VL test results. She said considering my liver was (is) stage 3 those numbers can jump around. She said she would doubt it's back since I have been UND for 20 months. Man I hope she's right!!
Hi James .The odds would be extremely rare.Is your ALP elevated also.
You mentioned pain in the area a number of months ago. Have you had an U/S or scan ,,as a stone in the bilary duct can cause pain as well as elevated enzymes ,especially ALP.. Just some thoughts..
Will
The only time my liver enzymes were ever elevated is when I first found out I had HCV back in 2003. After that both my AST & ALT have been pretty low. Even when my viral load was high.
I did not realize elevated liver enzymes were an indicator of relapse.I truly hope that is not the case. Still, you need a PCR to be sure!
Something don't sound right in the post you provided, if someone started tx in mid December a 24 week course would run through at lease mid june. Which would put her 6 month post pcr in later December and maybe it wasn't taken until Janurary?
There are other things that can cause your liver functions to go high besides HCV, like fatty liver, or drinking alcohol, or other things as well. It doesn't have to mean a relapse, it could be something else. You will have your PCR in a few days and have your answer, butI I would say the odds are in your favor that you have not relapsed.
I am sorry to hear your liver enzymes are up. Possibly it is from another reason or cause? Hopefully the virus is not back.
Wishing the best for you.
Have you been taking any supplements that could cause the spike? If your July pcr was a 6 month post the odds are just very much against a relapse... Hopefully something besides a relapse is causing this spike.... Hang in there.
I was just responding to a woman on this thread:
http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Hepatitis-C/RA--Hep-C-Reactivaton/show/1718993
She has 5 posts in that thread, the first one being about in the middle of the thread. You may be interested in reading what she says. Her forum name is Xville.
From her posts, it appears she is Geno 2, treated 24 months, started Dec. 10, 2010, SVR'd by February 2011, ended tx May 2011, had no detectable virus as late as Jan. 2012, and now has the virus back. (I am not positive that scenario is all correct, but that is what her posts state.)
I have asked her to provide more information so the experts can weigh in.
If she was truly SVR in May 2011 (at EOT) and stayed that way through Jan. 2012 , and now has the virus, her scenario would not follow the 6 month rule for SVR.
