To ALL of my Northeast friends, I am wanting you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. Being in FL., I've gone through many close brushes with these storms. Fortunately, for me, I've never had property damage. Several days without power-YES! Having to boil water once the power was restored-YES! My advice to anybody who hears about a tropical storm on the way is to store LOT's of water. Fill the bathtubs, stock up on bottled water and jugs of water. When I've had a few of these storms and the local water pumping stations were down-we weren't able to flush our toilets w/o having the jugs of water and scooping it from the tub-to pour into the back of the toilet and into the bowl. You don't think about these things, but seriously it gets to be SO difficult if you are actually in your home and can't flush the dumb toilet! Also, stock up on things like the flashlight batteries, extra flashlights, canned food and I have sterno and the little sterno portable grills because I'm in a condominium and don't have gas or access to a gas grill. Lastly, if you see that it's potentially coming in your direction, it's best to GO..., go stay with a relative, go anywhere away from the storm- at the very least 24 hrs prior to when the forecasters are expecting it to hit and if you are able to-it's better to leave sooner than that so that you don't get stuck in traffic on the road with a traffic jam of people trying to get out. I'm telling you all this for in the future, as I know that I'm late in this posting for telling you prior to this storm (Sandy). I am so sorry that all of those in the Northeast are having to go through this! NOT PLEASANT!

I am SO GLAD just to see that you've posted on here and you are ALIVE!!! I was worried about you! Did you have much damage done to your house? I hope not..

Power is on in the Poconos. Minimal damage compared to those on the coast line. Just made a mess with trees being down. I will be buying myself a generator for Xmas if I can ever find one :)~
Glad to hear you are okay. How lucky to live in the mountains!!
we're still on the generator up in the maine mountains..high winds with trees down but not too bad otherwise...what a mess this storm made
With so many losing power it may be a few days/weeks until we hear from some of our friends in the NE. Hope everyone came through ok.
