Back with worries

Sorry  to keep beating a dead horse but I'm still convinced I acquired hsv 2.  I have seen grace state that men usually don't get discharge with herpes and fleetwood, I thank you for all you've helped me with, you have said that most men do not get burning urination. I've had both and the discharge was present even after taking antibiotics which furthermore proves a viral infection. Along with my pretty constant pain in the groin and legs (achy pain) again proves a viral infection, however I'm negative at 12 weeks. Grace also states the capita test needs 4 months to be conclusive not 3 and I've also read with a long standing hsv 1 infection like I have that it could take up to 6 months to be positive.

If most men don't get discharge or burning with urination why do all the sites say these are symptoms. Dr. HHH has said if you have a burning penis without sores it's highly unlikely to be hsv 2. When I get oral hsv 1 outbreaks I experience itching, burning, then the sores show up. Again I expect hsv 2 would play out the same but I've read my hsv 1 could cause me not to have significant sores and possibly just cuts or slits in the skin. I've had one or two cuts but not until over like 8 weeks after possible exposure. Those should have shown up with all my other symptoms earlier in this ridiculous fiasco.

I've had every single symptoms listed for hsv 2
Burning urination- yes
Frequency to go pee- yes
Flu like symptoms- yes ( I threw up, stomach upset to the max)
Abdominal pressure-yes
Groin pain- yes
Leg pain- yes
Discharge- yes ( even after takin zithromax and doxy) has to be viral

Burning genitals- yes
Blisters and sores- no-- but like I've said I had a cut, maybe from masterbation or the dry skin. Also according to this site and other my long standing hsv 1 infection can help those not occur AND many people don't get them.

I however have not had any symptoms since about 7 or 8 weeks after except groin and leg aches. I've had one equivocal igm test and one positive. Equivocal at 6 weeks and positive at 11 weeks. Doctor told me I was recently infected and to tell future partners I have hsv 2. Meanwhile, my igg test was negative at 6 weeks and negative at 12 weeks.

With the symptoms I noted above I cannot drop hsv 2 no matter how hard I try. For a few days I was stoked about the igg being negative at 12 weeks but with my ongoing leg and groin aches I don't know what to think. Again I'm back to these boards with questions.
I hate to be so obnoxious about this! The posters here have given me nothing but good feedback and I thank you so much for it. Can anyone elaborate again on what those symptoms were all about, possibly an adenovirus? Or more obviously hsv 2?

Broken, IGM is known to be unreliable and can be triggered with a current HSV1 infection among other things.

I understand how you feel completely. I have the same exact symptoms, but I do have pimple like lesions on shaft and twitching legs.

If it gives you any solace, I have taken a Western Blot at 22 weeks and was negative for HSV1 and HSV2 with your same symptoms. I also had discharge that did not improve with antibiotics.

Not sure what to think anymore. I decided to try my best  to move on and I suggest you try. A negative 12 week IGG is very reliable. I'd do a 16 week and just tell yourself there is nothing else you can do, blood work is blood work and it says you're negative.

Yeah I'm waiting to do my hopefully last test until I graduate which will be this coming Saturday and will test the following week. That will be 18 weeks from exposure and if negative I might seek the western blot just for assurance but I am going to be sure I get the herpselect done so I can see the antibody count.
To be honest if I would have done that at the 12 week mark I could see where my levels were and would have a better understanding but the fact that I didn't see the antibody levels makes me worried.

Thanks big time, and trust your western blot test man it's the gold standard

I also have another question. I'm 23 years old, in good shape and healthy. With my longstanding hsv 1 would it really take 6 months to become positive for hsv 2? I believe I have a healthy immune system I just can't stand seeing that some people already having hsv 1 take 6 months to seroconvert. Is there a reasonable explanation for it?

Grace, life, fleet, any of you got info on that?
Thanks again so much

I completely understand your stress but I have finally learned that it does us no good.  I too suffer from unexplained symptoms following a one-time encounter. I tested negative even at 6 months. My immune response has been tested and is 'perfect.'  I can't drop HSV-2 either with my symptoms. I do know that you can completely disregard your IGM test results.

I would retest at 6 months for your own reassurance but I can tell you from personal experience that this did nothing for me. I wish you the best.

We have been trying but you can't seem to let it go. You do not have HSV2.

You mentioned some symptoms above and several of them have absolutely nothing to do with a herpes infection at all. As you have HSV1 antibodies, you are very, very likely to experience very light symptoms upon infection with HSV2 if any at all. What you describe was already 99% sure to be something apart from HSV2 and the testing has confirmed that.

You would not take more than 16 weeks to seroconvert, no.

I agree I'm a mess and have been for the last few months. Cannot drop the hsv 2 ordeal so I'm just going to take the western blot and be done with it. I just posted to Terri on her forum in hopes she can set that up for me. I don't care about the money I care about my mental state and well being. Fleet you have been nothing short of extra ordinary helping me through this! I can't thank you enough.

It's just hard to get passed those symptoms.

I've wasted my entire last semester of college worrying about this and even my best friends here have noticed a ridiculous change in my personality. So for everyone's sake including mine I am going to take this gold standard WB and if negative I have no choice but to be happy and move forward.

I sincerely cannot thank you enough for all your help through all of my bull**** fleet. You are a damn good reason people stay sane.
I appreciate you

Broken, as hard as it may be and many of us can relate, you gotta put this passed you. You would have shown a positive by now.

I'd take Fleet's advice and move on. I decided to take his and Life's own advice. I was in the Urgent Care today getting a lesion looked at and swabbed. They think I'm a nut job there and suffer from serious herpes paranoia. I'm starting to believe they are right. The doctor looked and said "for the last time, that is not Herpes. Looks like a pimple, stop shaving, I can't tell you 100% what it is, but I can tell you what it's not...herpes."

Doctor suggested I seek counseling. For the first time in 23+ weeks, I decided I have done everything I can to find a diagnosis. I won't let this ruin my life or my current relationship.

Broken you are traveling down a dark path brother. I've been there and am steering away now. Simply retest at 16 weeks and be done with it. Your body would have seroconverted by now. There is nothing any of us can say to you to eliminate your paranoia. If a sore comes up get It swabbed. It's what I did today against the doctor's wishes and retest via IGG at 16 weeks.

You will be negative and you must move on. I'm seriously done myself. I'm turning into a looney tune.

Perhaps there's a new std we do not have testing for but presents similarly as hsv? Weird cause I have these lingering symptoms and have been tested 15-28 weeks out with igg tests and both were negative.

I definitely know I've been going down the wrong road with this but I know you understand where I'm coming from. More or less bc of the encounter man bc this girl looked like she could have it, definitely the worst skeleton in my closest. But I know herpes doesn't discriminate.

But I believe I need the WB to assure myself I'm fine and that this has all been a nightmare that I need to learn from. Worst thing is I don't wanna infect anybody and bc of how I've been acting me and my gf have broken up and I need assurance that it was something to teach me a lesson. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I infected her.

So against yours, and a lot of other ps judgements I have decided the WB is the only way I will know for sure where I stand. Bigtime you and I have been through a lot so I know you can understand, and if this is negative it's over for me and I will move on. I will have no choice.

I appreciate everything this site and the people have helped me with and I promise to post my results when I get them. Thanks again for sticking with me through the bull****. Time will tell me everything. Take care of yourself and your girl, we both know the scare isn't worth it in the long run.
Bless you

Maybe there's a new sti we don't have testing for that has similar symptoms as hsv? I've had most of these symptoms you've described which still linger despite testing negative using igg testing 15-28 weeks...

I hope you're wrong. I have a feeling we are all just so obsessed with guilt or possibly thinking so hard about herpes that we notice every little thing that goes on below the belt. Blood tests aren't perfect but they are damn close. Immune disorders cause people not to test positive from what I have read, and trust me I've read a lot. That's literally all I've been doing for the last 4 months. I've heard the mind does weird things to people but again I'm in the same boat as you.

At some point we have to trust the tests bc there are so many people who have that proof they are positive, and unless a sore is present that's all we have to go on. Sounds hypocritical for me to say bc I'm going crazy myself but we cannot keep living like we have something that the tests say we don't.

I hope for all our sake we can move on but it takes time and a mental adjustment. I've been in the dumps before but nothing like this. Lost the girl of my dreams for what? Some random a**? Not worth it. Keep your head up man if you were going to be positive you would be, trust that. I'm trying myself and I know it's difficult. But we have to
Good luck to you. I'll post when i get my results

Last night after work i noticed 6 or so red pimples all scattered on my legs none of which were clustered but they have itched a bit and my legs were burning as well and the one time i peed it burned. These all seem like it could be a recurring outbreak or just pimples from my manuel labor job that i just started this week. I dont have time to get them swabbed and most of them had white heads on them but also with hsv all over my mind i tend to think thats what they are

However my bloodwork is negative this far at 12 weeks. The WB is ordered and is bein sent out to the quest lab in my area.

Any ideas on what those pimples could be?

Where on your legs?  If you suspect they may be troublesome, why aren't you getting them swabbed at your PCPs office or the ER

Without swabbing them you are just playing a guessing game and nobody here will diagnose your lesions with any certainty.

However, a doctor and a swab can. You must do this or risk not knowing what they are. I swab anything and everything may resemble herpes on my genitals. I want no doubt.

Three on one thigh, one on the other and two up by my hip but they are so far apart. White heads on some and the white puss came out of them

I work all day so i cant get in to get then swabbed although trust me i would love to and i need to so i dont have to play the guessing game.

They look just like sweat pimples but i know hsv can look like anything but they do not look like the cold sores i get on my lips

Went to an urgent care and got them swabbed. Didn't want to play the guessing game at all so now I'm laying the waiting game.. I'll post when the results come in

If they were scattered in the locations you describe, then there is no way they are HSV 1/2. What did they think they were?

Although HSV varies in appearance you know how they appear on you and this isn't what it is, right?

For your own health, you need to stop this obsession.

They did not look like what i get on my lips but ive been told they can occur anywhere in the boxer region including on thighs so i got them checked out just to be sure.

I hate this whole situation im in and just want to be over it and hopefully in a few weeks when i get my WB back i can drop it but that will only be the case if the cultures are negative too

I'm still waiting on cultures as well Broken and my Western Blot was negative.

Try and rest easy. Wait it out man. You're negative. Stop letting this ruin your life. It's a terrible obsession. I know because I can relate.

Once my swab comes in I'm moving on forever.

Bigtime do you know if this were to be an outbreak, would a recurrent outbreak produce penile discharge? I took a shower and had some clear discharge upon getting out as well as I noticed it after to went to the bathroom. I know rarely men get discharge but I'm fairly sure I'm one of the rare ones.

From what doctors tell me, penile discharge is NOT common with herpes. I had both penile and anal discharge in the beginning my symptoms. Doctor prescribe doxycycline at the time and it cleared it up. I'm assuming it was bacterial based.

Herpes and discharge in men don't go together. I guess it can happen, but the odds are in your favor.

I think you have some bacterial thing going on. You need to see a Urologist and have them prescribe doxycycline. If that doesn't work, I'd be concerned.

I'm just sharing what happened to me and what my doc advised.

Another question is it possible to have my first outbreak 18 weeks after the exposure? I have four lesions on my penis which I have had swabbed and won't know for a couple days. These are the only lesions I've had since the exposure.
I have masterbated and have a cut on my finger and the first two came up after that then today I did it again and the other two came up. Could a cut on my finger make a cut on my penis as well? I'm hoping to god it's possible and that my swabs come back negative but as of right now I believe these to be hsv 2 lesions

Any ideas?

The dr who swabbed me gave me doxy but I took it before as well but she said I needed a longer dosing so I'm on it for ten days. But these lesions are scaring the poop outta me
