Hi just tested positive for HSV1 but negative for HSV2 IgC test

HSC1 positive 36.1, HSV2 negative <0.5, HSV IgM positive 1.5
Same partner last 9 years neither cheated she tested negative for both last year during a problematic gyneco period. Little worried about passing this on now although our sex life has been fantastic so unclear how she is negative if I am positive? Very promiscuous in my early years I am now 44 years old, previous STI's treated during 20's. Help!!!

I also have it but have never had a cold sore either. I felt that tingling feeling coming on one time years ago and my mom gave me some abreva to put on my lip and it never came up. I think I’ve read that the longer you have it, the less you shed, but I could be totally wrong or that info I read could be wrong (never know on the internet) so if that’s true, it would lessen the time they could possibly get it from kissing. Just don’t kiss them if you feel any oral symptoms.

Hi, HSV1 36.1 although not sure what that means to be fair! HSV2 was negative, and the IgM test positive also at a low level 1.5. As mentioned the wife was tested some time ago due to ongoing problems with contraceptive aids and she was negative; I have a feeling this is a long standing issue for me so am hoping she is either immune or I have such low levels of this that is is not transmitting!??? I know this may be wishful thinking, any advice gratefully received.

An index value of 36.1 is definitely a positive. You’ve probably had this for a long time. Most people get it as a child. Half the population has hsv1. Most likely you have oral hsv1 although some people can get it genitally. Have you ever had any cold sores on your mouth? It’s also common for people to have hsv1 and not know it. I wouldn’t stress about it.

Hi, thats the weird thing, never had a cold sore in my life! I have had some little red blotches on my penis glans from time to time but as I have dry skin sometimes I assumed it was that, I put a cream on for dry skin and it would clear up within 24hrs therefore have not thought anything more of it I have been in a relationship with my Mrs for 9 years, we have 2 lovely kids and I am now afraid to even give them a kiss!! Its freaking me out! Thanks for the response.
