Herpes Whitlow

Background
- Positive for HSV1 orally since childhood.
- Was exposed to a partner who had HSV1 genitally 12 months ago, had sexual relations 5 times with him using protection and taking antivirals.
- Tested for HSV2, came out negative

I have had an ongoing drama of thinking I had HSV1 genitally even though I have been tested.

Months after feeling okay I have seen a small white blister on the centre of the back of my middle finger.

It doesn't hurt unless I press firmly over it.

Is this whitlow?

Who is talking about genital herpes?

I am only making comments in your interest. You are wasting your life's emotional energy on an irrelevant issue. Why do this? There's so much to enjoy in life. Have more respect for your life and those around you.

No one 'wants' genital herpes that's not an issue of understanding. But it is not an issue if you do have genital herpes. There is no need to feel any different to a person who does not have genital herpes.

Because I don't want genital herpes! Why can't you seem to understand that. We are all different and I have taken this very badly so I don't understand why you are so critical about me feeling this way.

But why, what difference does it make if you have it in two locations versus one?

I really hope so.

So this little blister could be anything? Its so strange as I have never had a blister on my hand.

I know I keep asking this question but I have read things were people have stated that they have both hsv 1 in both locations so I can't help but freak out.

No it is not concerning. Blisters occur all the time for many reasons. A burn, a splinter, bacteria etc.

You already have oral HSV1 so you cannot get the virus elsewhere practically. If you're an exceptionally rare person for which this has happened, so what?

This has impacted my life :(
I have suffered from severe anxiety ever since.

Then what is it?
Do you know anything about whitlow?
Would I see symptoms a year later?
To see this little blister and not know what it is, is concerning.

No this will not be herpes. Please, you continue to think way too much about this and it must be impacting your life way too much.

You have a common silly little virus, like 4 billion other people on the planet. We just all suck it up and live life like it is intended.
