Could this be herpes? im so scared & confused!

last month i had PROTECTED sex with this guy
my period started 2 days later...but after my period (a week later) i noticed 2 sores on the inside of my labia. They didn't disappear until about 2 weeks later and the area was very itchy and there was some discomfort. Then a white discharge started after that and now the discharge is always here. I also now notice that every time my period ends, the same area where the sores were before becomes irritated. Also little bumps are always appearing on my pubis area but theres no discharge or anything coming out of them.

So ultimately i want to know what all that could mean and how high are the chances are catching herpes from protected sex?

have you both been tested for herpes to know your statuses?

really nothing else I can suggest. a herpes lesion will not stay there since november.  continue to follow up with the gyn to try to get to the bottom of things.

Btw thanks grace, i know im late with responding back.
But anyways...i did end up going to see a doctor about it, but by time i saw him the previous 2 bumps I had mentioned were already gone. Though noow, the vaginal discharge is still there, but now its yellow and very runny, and the same one bump on my pubis (that i mentioned in november) is still there, one time it had  white discharge and I popped it once but it came back! Also, i've been back to the clinic many times about the discharge and it the results came back negative for everything each time...so now i'm being sent to another gyno.

Im extremely paranoid about this still and so sad that even though i had protected sex something still happened..and worried that i could give my new boyfriend something (but he hasnt said anything is abnormal in him). Ive been reading that herpes can cause discharge, but i havent been able to find out what KIND of discharge it causes.
So again, could any of these reoccuring symptoms be due to herpes?

you should go and be seen and get examined. also get properly tested for yeast and bacterial vaginal infections too.

the sanitary products we use can also cause us irritation. if this is only happening after your period, you might want to consider using something different or a different brand and see if that helps.

condoms reduce the risk of transmission of herpes by 30%.  you have to wait 3 months post encounter to get a type specific herpes igg blood test to see what your status is if you don't have obvious lesions to get cultured before then.
