HSV-1 what are the chances

I have been intimate with a new person lately. (male) I have genital hsv-1 which i have had for going on 7 years with only two outbreaks. We had protected sex twice and once unprotected. Should I tell this person about my HSV status? What are the chances I could pass it to him. ? I started antiviral therapy a week ago.

-thanks

Telling someone is your choice.  Genital HSV-1 is a less reoccuarance but still does shed.  There is a chance he could get it though it is low.  You should speak with your partner.  Also have him check his own HSV status.  Chances are he may have HSV-1 already in the form of cold sores/fever blisters.  Knowing his status will help you determine what precautions to take.

Chances of transmitting hsv1 genitally are typically fairly low but i sure wish someone had told me prior to giving me hsv. I was recently diagnosed by serology and i am not sure if it is genital or oral.
