HSV 1

I recently had an outbreak of genital herpes. Both a swab and blood test confirmed it was caused by HSV 1. I'm recently separated and he was the only person I had sex with for the past 18 years but he was prone to cold sores and we had been together recently. I also had a short term relationship with someone else who also gets them. (Dr assured me it's from oral sex with someone who gets cold sores) Just concerned about passing the virus on to my new boyfriend who was tested negative for either type. Any advice?

Here's some advice:

Don't bother worrying about it!  Don't disclose unless II want to. The great difference between HSV1 and HSV2 is that HSV1 almost never passes FROM the gentians.  So you are likely to not ever infect anyone as long as you avoid having intercourse while you are symptomatic.

That's good news right?

And you should also not expect to have outbreaks any more often than once at year.

It's not a horrific diagnosis at all, you'll come to find.
