HSV 2 Igg Borderline!?

recently i tested HSV II with the result 15.9 (16~21.9 = Borderline, >21.9 = Pos) after 42 days exposure (around 6 weeks)

my doc told me I should consider the result is borderline....this freaked me to a devastating situation...

i have been experiencing itchy penis, scrotum and anus for more than a month. but NO classic symptoms like blisters, sores, lesions around my penis, ONLY one to two very tiny acne like spot (i often experience it from the past)

Do i have herpes? please solve my apprehension thankyou...

Hi, low positive could be either a false positive or a recent infection. Retest at 3 months post exposure.

i m kinda confused...does negative 15.9ru/ml mean low positive?

According to the benchmark made by the manufacturer, Below 16ru/ml is called borderline....how come my doc would say 15.9 is a borderline?

I think the doctor is just being cautious. Given you have a exposure of concern, 6 weeks may just be a fraction too early to test hence in theory your body is making could be starting to make antibodies.

The test has a range of 0-200 so 0.1 is neither here not there. Most positive people test well over 70 though.

Either way retesting at 12 weeks is recommended, good chance it will stay negative.
