Nervous about Herpes?!?!?!?!?

Awhile back, I'd say a few weeks ago...I got what seemed to be a pimple on the underside of the shaft of my penis. I popped it, but I can't recall whether or not it had clear or white pus. It hurt the rest of my shaft around it, somewhat like a pimple would do. It popped quite easily too...about a week later, I got another bump on my pubic area (where my belt line is) which popped and definitely had WHITE pus. I heard that WHITE pus definitely signals it as a pimple or ingrown hair, and not herpes. I am deathly afraid to have herpes..any advice??

I have an appt for wednesday to get the test...herpeselect. I honestly don't believe I had herpes...but it can't hurt to check...Is it true that herpes only has clear pus?

odds are that you aren't getting tested for herpes when you get tested. The rates of genital herpes in gay males is 60% so it's definitely something you should be making sure you get tested for at each std check.

it's been enough time, get a type specific herpes igg blood test to rule it out and if these reoccur, be seen promptly for a better diagnosis of what is going on.

Sorry for posting it elsewhere...I thought it could go into the STD and HERPES forum...ooops. Well I've had sex with a total of 3 guys. And before and after each I get routine STD/HIV tests...I do them 3 months apart though, because I know that they are definitely conclusive then. I tend to worry about std's greatly, and this is why I do so. I am mainly concerned about the pimple like thing on my shaft. I was masturbating one day, and the meatus inside of my penis hurt...and I didn't know what it was until I saw this bump, pushed on it and it hurt...I wish I looked at the color of the pus, because I heard that can be a strong indicator of whether or not it is indeed herpes. If I were to get a herpes blood test, it would be conclusive, correct? Seeing that there was a possible outbreak...would the result still come back negative?? I am not convinced that this is herpes, but it may be. I know I have HSV1, seeing how most people in the world do, thru simple cold-sores...but I couldn't bear the idea of having HSV2.

I made an appt to see my doctor and get bloodwork done...I am worried about the cost though. I do have great insurance, a PPO and all...but Idk if it will completely cover the cost of the testing.

you've picked at this and poked at it so too late for a lesion culture.

could this be herpes? it could be but it also could be any number of things.

when was the last time you had sex prior to your symptoms?  do you have a regular partner? have you ever been tested for herpes before?

You might want to check out the possibility of Molluscum Contagiosum.
