Yes, my swab test was positive for herpes. I went back to my OB last week because it was still tingling down there after my sores were gone. The doctor says I have neuropathy. He wants me on suppression meds for 3 months. Every time I try to go down to one valtrex a day for suppression my lymph nodes get inflamed and it s starts to itch down there. I have tried this twice in the past week. Doc wanted me to take 2 valtrex for 3 days each time and then back to one. What is going on here? Symptoms are never ending. I also just started getting nerve pain all over my body and my butt hurts.
There are two types of antibody test, IgM and IgG. It is possible you had either or both of these tests undertaken. Try to obtain the full paperwork as interpretation can be tricky and best served with the results of all the tests to hand.
What was the swab test result?
People with an IgG test result of 5 or more for HSV2 almost certainly are infected in the genital region. If this is true for you then you have probably had the infection quite a long time.
I guess I am confused. The blood test was Ig G and it came back 5. Yes, my doctor did a swab test and no I don't get cold sores.
Did you have IgG testing as well? Was there a swab result as well? Do you get oral cold sores?
IgM should never be used for a diagnosis, particularly type specific IgM. False positives and negatives are very, very common. IgM only has value as a tool in the first few weeks after actual infection, this doesn't seem to necessarily describe your situation.
I cannot think what the blisters under the arms would be, sounds more like shingles.
I think a blood test for your husband would assist at this stage, it must for IgG type specific for HSV1 and HSV2.
Well, my IgM test came back positive 5 for HSV2. I went through many symptoms (swollen lymph nodes, muscle aches, and discharge). My doctor says I contacted it in the past. Then I got blisters under my arms. I was pretty sure I had another a OB. I didn't get it checked. After those systems lessened, my groin pain and tingling came back over the weekend. And now another blister down there showed. Are u kidding me. Can this be one long OB or is this separate ones? Also, is it possible I got herpes under the arm? Why is the such a long process? Should I go and see something else might be wrong ?
No particular need to suspect herpes just yet. If it is though, then it is also quite possible for you or your husband to have had it unknowingly since before you were married. Some people just have very infrequent outbreaks, if at all.
