How long do you have to wait to get a herpes simplex DNA PCR test?

My doctor gave me a genital swab from my cervix a week after exposure and it came back negative. Does negative mean negative or do I have to go back again? Also, can I take the tingling on my lips as a sign that I just have it orally? I have no symptoms genitally.

You have no real risk of getting hsv this way.

The virus would have to be at the surface at that time. Is it conclusive? No
Tingling at the lips is not definitive for oral hsv at all. What was your exposure?
